Matt Can you stop swearing and taking the Lord's name in vain? Otherwise I'd be inclined to agree with you, despite being a Christian.

Matt "The bible has no place in the education system." Why not? The Bible is the basis of Western Civilisation, with its teaching causing it's followers to found the idea of public hospitals, found many charities, invent modern science, abolish slavery twice, lift the status of women, spread democracy, introduce universal education, promote human rights, and more. Seems like it ought to be talked about a lot.

Not a valid comparison.

Matt "Only a fool would put their stock in what it says." And yet many, many, very intelligent people "put their stock" in what it says. So that refutes you right there. "The bible is absolutely full of misinformation and contradiction." Evidence? Because I've heard many such claims and very little evidence supporting such claims.

@johnadams2339 "not all people have the means or the funds to send their children to another school." In this case, I don't accept that argument as parents have to pay more to send their children to a private school than a government one.

@pierrebornholm5599 "how do you know that being homosexual or bisexual is not a biological matter..." First, it's been studied, and nobody can find any hard evidence of that. Second, acting on it is a decision, not a biological matter. "...just as is the case with race or ethnicity?" That is clearly biological, and not a valid comparison anyway to a feeling that people can choose to act on.

Matt "Schools are there to provide education, not indoctrinate values." Tell that to the government schools that indoctrinate students with anti-Christian values. You're right up to a point, but neither do you want the school actively or even passively undermining the values that you as parents teach them.
1
Matt I'm not sure what you're getting at, but if it is that Christians should be able to send their children to government schools without worrying that the school will undermine Christianity, then yes, that's something I could go along with.

@pierrebornholm5599 "Companionship is a human need. Not simply a thought one chooses to act on." I didn't say that it was simple, or easy. But you say the same thing—that the molesters should have chosen differently.

@dansaber8435 "Since you don't get to choose your orientation..." You choose whether or not to act on it.
1
@dansaber8435 "whether or not you act on it, people can identify your orientation by the way you look sound and act." Sometimes, but I don't see the relevance of that anyway.
