I'm not for communism, but I am for heavy government intervention in markets with in-elastic demand like shelter, work, medicine and providing services that grow the tax base like infrastructure and education. Strong unions, government provided basic necessities, as little social-intervention as possible (while maintaining the necessary civility to upkeep the supply chain), and steeply increasing taxes on passive income, and taxing unrealized gains over certain amounts, as well as restructuring the tax code to be based on ratios as opposed to dollar amounts that are ever changing due to inflation. Capitalists still operate like we haven't discovered assembly lines or fertilizer, and still have limitless land for people to expand onto for free.

Also, Marx's labor theory of value is used by capitalists to understand operating costs. There are many of Marx's economic theories capitalists use to understand the economy. It's funny people always talk about morality but marx was pretty focused on sociology, economics and logistics management and capacity, very dry fields.

Communism takes government intervention too far. Governance is a balancing act. What rules HAVE to be enforced, how should the verdicts be applied, etc. What outcomes do these regulations achieve? We need things with in-elastic demand to be rice-regulated, but things with elastic demand should be left as much to the market as can be safely achieved (ecological and human costs weighed vs societal gain). Whatifalthist didn't read any communist lit for this video, he's fighting a strawman to validate his positions on the free market. If the founding fathers wrote the constitution today, we'd be electing the board of directors of the utility companies we use, and standardizing tech coms so that companies had to compete on individual products value added, instead of locking people into an ecosystem. Communism is generally too much intervention/too close to anarchy to work in the era of nation-states, but we DO need government intervention in price fixing, and less government intervention in starting a corporation, so we have more competitors driving down leisure goods pricing, while the government ensures nobody starves or dies of exposure in the age of abundance, as well as ensuring we don't allow a few rich people to poison the people and planet for short-term profit. Unlearning Econ is a great socialist YT channel, so is KnowingBetter. I like Contrapoints view on things, generally too. She's more social democrat than socialist, but she's a VERY effective communicator and VERY well educated. Beau of the Fifth column is great, secular talk is good, ehh.. there are more. But those are who spring to mind first.

It's not communism in the west that's ruining things, it's propping up failed market speculators with bailouts, negative interest rates, etc. who are siphoning your wages. There isn't a communist anywhere near a seat of power in the USA.

@Nae_Ayy They don't, they have no idea that a lot of modern economic theory is built on mechanics Marx discusses first. They think Marx is Hegel with moralized dialectics instead of dry assessments of sociology, economic changes of the industrial revolution and logistics management/output.

@andrewmarling Any primary source, Marx's work on the mechanics of the modern economy are still used today. Labor theory of value, meaning how much does one person make the company, is used in every business on the planet. Or maybe even just pull from a non-hostile source. He doesn't have a single source that isn't critical of communism. It'd be like doing a video on capitalism and only pulling from communist groups to understand it. You're drinking from a poisoned well.
