@comeforaride no holocaust descendents do not need to renounce citizenship they are allowed dual by austria. as far as portugal the path will close 31/12/2023 and will be open until then but requires inheritances in the country or frequent visitation during lifetime when those facts demostrate effective and long lasting link to portugal. Spain requires 2 year residency for sephardic jews. if it will be back without residency requirement no one knows.

@comeforaride Futhermore under the old rules you will pass you will transmit citizenship through marriage after 6 years of marriage without further links to Portugal BUT any minor children that you have born BEFORE your naturalization will only have right to citizenship if proves connection to Portugal regardless of when you requested the citizenship

@comeforaride There was a new reinterpretation of the law regarding minor they are no longer except from having a connection to portugal. Before it was only required to put yes in the form saying child has a connection to Portugal. After the reinterpration a link to portugal is necessary for the child and will affect every child born before the parents naturalization.

@comeforaride futhermore I think the government is punishing people who do not reside in Portugal not just because of the change regarding minor but because in 2021 there were 54 537 new naturalized citizens of them 24 500 were sephardic jews or 45 % of the total. 2022 46 272 of them 18 181 sephardic jews or 39% of the naturalized citizens. That is despite 72 % of all naturalize request were made by sephardic jews in 2021 and over 90% in 2022.
