Sarah Conor = Marketed Star Schwartzenegger Lori Petty was NOT marketed as the star for Tank Girl Milla was NOT the marketed star for any movie Back to your couch.

@encinobalboa .. Linda Carter (TV not a movie) was on TV for her looks as were most women at that time. Monster is not an action movie. Atomic Blonde was 2017. Bionic Woman (TV) was also on Tv for her looks.
6
@hensonlaura . Samuel L Jackson was marketed as the STAR
3
@mockingbirdjane2289 .. You are the closest so far. 2001 Lara Croft was a big budget action flick for Angelina Jolie. However, the production company did not use Jolie as the marketing vehicle. They did not use her to sell the movie in the marketing.
3
@normanwhite6677 .. Charlie's Angels doesn't fit since Bill Murray, Sam Rockwell, Tim Curry, AND Kelly Lynch were the marketed stars before the Angels.
2
@martinharris5017 ... You've tried to change the criteria so you can sell your BULL ..... JLaw was correct. She was the 1st female lead marketed as the lead in a big budget action movie. Your knowledge of the movie business is pss poor. No. You lost a long time ago. NEXT !
2
@travelcrip715 . But the studio wasn't out selling Milla "Come see Milla Jovovich in Resident Evil" ... That is what JLaw was talking about. Studios didn't sell female action stars until recently.
2
@warhammerRob .. Yet Weaver was NOT top billed nor did 20th Century Fox did NOT say "See Sigourney Weaver in Alilen" ... No one watching the movie knew who she was. She didn't even get top billing until Alien 3. Pam Grier's movies were not action flicks. Wonder woman was TV SHOW. Not a movie. And the reason people watched was her looks. Take a seat LIGHTWEIGHT
2
@travelcrip715 .. No. What she meant and what she could say safely in an interview were 2 different things. All of the idiots reading her comment as if it was a court transcript taking the comment verbatim dismissing what she clearly MEANT in the interview. Studios did not female leads to sell action movies to the public until recently. The pea brains that think they are disproving Jlaw by pointing out any female lead display their poor grasp of the English language. JLaw clearly said that no studio marketed a specific actress as the star of an action movie. That includes a big budget for the movie and the marketing of the movie. That is accurate. The closest was Angelina Jolie in Lara Croft but Paramount didn't market Jolie as the star due to her wild sexual history.
2
@douglasherron7534 .. NOPE. 1) you clearly have no idea who was marketed for those movies. Weaver was never marketed as the star. Kristy Swanson was NOT marketed as the star of Buffy. Luke Perry was the marketed star. Jolie was not marketed as the star of Lara Kroft due to her sketchy sexual history. It turned off the studio. Sarandon and Davis were NOT marketed as the stars of Thelma and Louise. Brad Pitt was. Beckinsale was NOT marketed at the star for any of the Underworld movies. Men were. 2) You clearly don't know what marketing means. 3) Worse is that you can't understand what JLaw was saying under her breath because she could not say it openly. Back to your couch LIGHTWEIGHT
2
@douglasherron7534 .. Your Trump University film degree FAILED you again. No movie with a female lead in an action movie until Angelina Jolie in Lara Kroft was sold as female. Paramount did NOT sell Jolie. They sold a generic female heroine due to her sexual history. You don't know this because you were too young at the time and have no clue what you are talking about. Marketing means spending big bucks to sell the LEAD actor/actress on their name to support the movie to the public. That sell job leads to believability of a gender to lead a movie. Back to your couch LIGHTWEIGHT
2
@douglasherron7534 .. How much does the spelling police job pay? You must be rich. The fact is that the Lara Croft movie SUCKED because Paramount was still not selling female sexuality in the open. They were operating under old rules that they gave up on around 2005. Paramount NEVER MENTIONED Jolie's name as the star on the TV trailers. You don't remember because you never saw them and are not in the industry. Your movie knowledge is WEAK and you need to return back to your couch. PhD+JD Georgetown. And if Live and Let Die is your earliest movie then you are way behind. Try 3 decades. NEXT !!
2
@GhostofMrsMuir1443 .. Nope. The EVIDENCE proves that women have been taken advantage of by unscrupulous men since the beginning of time. My wife says Go F... Yourself.
2
@aubreysong .. EXCEPT Chow Yun-fat was sold as the star .. the Warrior ... for the movie because the studio did not believe the female stars could get people into the theater. Check the details before posting.
2
@damiangrouse4564 .. Nope. Angelina Jolie was NOT marketed as the lead star in Lara Croft. Try again LIGHTWEIGHT
2
@damiangrouse4564 .. No. It's called being ACCURATE. Jolie was not marketed as the lead star in Lara Croft. Back to your couch.
2
Men were always listed as the LEAD in those movies. Try again LIGHTWEIGHT
2
@Simon-gc6uf ... We know you're closeted like Dave Rubin.
2
@Unbroken .. NOPE ... Weaver didn't even get top billing until Alien 3 and the budget for the film was still low. Hollywood was not sold.
2
@jimmckittrick6515 .. Yet Samuel L Jackson was the marketing vehicle. You have no clue about marketing movies. Take a seat LIGHTWEIGHT
2
Please tell us when Hollywood studios gave a big budget for an action movie with a female lead and marketed the movie on that female actress's name? There is only 1 movie and star but the studio did not market the movie on the star. The movie came out in 2001. Try again LIGHTWEIGHT
2
@Unbroken .. You said "Sigourney Weave who really broke the female action character ceiling in "Alien."" That is false.
2
@BST-lm4po .. You need to adjust your tin foil hat.
2
@mmurph2686 .... Get off your right-wing NUTJOB soapbox Try again LIGHTWEIGHT
2
@mmurph2686 .. 1) Online comment sections are NOT debate forums 2) Current culture DOES NOT frown upon housewives. They frown upon men that make their wives housewives without choice as was done pre-1960s. Take a seat LIGHTWEIGHT
2
@SixDasher .. Nope. 1st lead in an ACTION picture where the studio sold the female actress of the lead didn't happen until Jlaw. Try again LIGHTWEIGHT
2
@ThePiratemachine ..Nope. They were not action flicks. Your pea sized brain failed you again.
2
@jacktorrance2633 .. Thelma and Louise was not a big budget action flick.
2
@purplespeckledappleeater8738 .. True. But too many people are trying to say that SLJ was not the star of Long Kiss Goodnight.
2
@CleverGirlAAH .. I didn't cherrypick. It stated a FACT. One that you acknowledged. Big budget action flicks with the studio marketing the female lead as the reason to see the movie didn't happen until Hunger Games. Try again LIGHTWEIGHT
2
@martinharris5017 .. No. It's you that has FAILED to prove JLaw wrong on any point. You're just an INTERNET LOSER. JL said that there had been no female lead in an action movie prior to her. She didn't state any other criteria. THE VIDEO OF HER INTERVIEW PROVES YOU WRONG. Try again LIGHTWEIGHT
2
@lostcause7594 .. Too bad the studios never got behind women in the past with a massive production budget, marketing budget, or top billing. JLaw is correct.
2
@lostcause7594 Hey QUEERBATE ... Federal Law Enforcement. Wash, DC. PhD+JD Georgetown. Your Trump Univ. economics degree FAILED you again. Back your couch LIGHTWEIGHT
2
@martinharris5017 .. Nope. The CRITERIA was that no studio made a big budget action film marketing it with the lead female actress. Weaver was never in a big budget movie nor was she sold as the lead star of the movie. Lawrence was not talking about "billing." She was talking about the whole marketing campaign to sell the movie to the public. Commercials. Products, Cast and studio interviews, ETC. "Billing" is just the names listed on paper. Try again LIGHTWEIGHT
2
@martinharris5017 .. Nope. Alien was not a big budget film. Even then. The studio thought it would go straight to video. Weaver was NOT marketed as the lead star until Alien 3. Weaver was never marketed as the lead star with a huge budget in an action film. Back to your couch LIGHTWEIGHT
2
@martinharris5017 ... You have cemented your amateur status for the rest of time. Movies went straight to video in the 70s. Alien (11 million) was not a big budget movie. Moonraker (34 million) and Super Man (55 million) were big budget films. Try again LIGHTWEIGHT
2
@warhammerRob .. EXCEPT Aliens and Terminator were low budget where Weaver and Linda Hamilton were NOT sold as the star. Arnold Schwarzenegger was sold as the star for Terminator. No one was sold as the star for Alien.
2
@noragriffin6432 .. Irrelevant since she wasn't sold as the star until Alien 3. Worse is that the movies never had a budget.
1
@batman5224 .. Not in action movies. Plus a lot of the marketing was always selling the director or male lead. What were the budgets in those movies? That is what JLaw was talking about. Big Budget selling the female actresses name to get butts in seats.
