  2. Have you looked up literacy rates before the cell phone? Like at least a couple centuries back? People werent reading as much back then. In fact, we read and write more. The problem is, most writing and reading is done for testing purposes never for genuine leisure.

Every essay video about a famous entertsnment franchise is "Was X acrually a communist/fascist"? "Is X reflecting wokeness?" "Are we living i The Matrix/1984/Idiocracy?" And its almost always about how "old school.is better than ke crappy new school".

Schools do everything to discourage kids from worldly affairs. Kids arenot alkowed to genuinely discuss, race, sex, death, religion, etc outside of assigned cirriculum. Everything is supoosed to be positivity and "change the world" shit.

  32. ​ @janisir4529  As an avid reader, I can say youre mainly right. Reading is become moralised as a sign of humanity. Taking a profile pic with a book in hand and talking about superficial nonsense semi related to the book in question is all you need to get people to worship you as sone sort of whiz. Math on the other hand, is seen as awkward nerdy shit thats not given as much aesthetic respect as reading. Math is only appreciated when it gives us weapons. Printed text as the social norm was only for a short time.

  35. i think most people dont really read. People like to glorify reading as some sort of virtue trophy to show off, but never appreciate on their lonesome. Even before the Internet, radio, or TV, peopke would listen to orators or watch stage plays or hit the bar.
