@hornerfarah2282 Some of the Arab population of this geographic area began using the term “Palestinian” in the pre-WWI era when they were part of the Turkish Ottoman Empire. Per a prior Quora answer “Al-Muqaddasi, the famous Arab Jerusalemite geographer, was the first to call himself a Palestinian, and the term first appeared as a term for South Levantine Arabs as a distinct group in a 1906 book written by Farid Kassab.” The term did not begin to be used widely until the the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) was formed in 1964. Prior to the 20th century the people saw themselves simply as “Arabs” or perhaps as part of a particular nomadic tribe or family. The Jews have been in the area now called Israel since Biblical times. Moses led the Jews out of Israel to the Promised Land (now Israel) in the 13th century BCE. According to the Bible the first Jews, Jacob and his family, did inhabit the area prior to their time in Egypt… perhaps 400 years earlier.
