  11.  @EpikArms  i will share my experience. I evaluated to buy a tikka after my bergara hunter 308 b14 for a longer range build, despite the perfect reliability and the astonishing groups my b14 printed (0.3 MOA comsistently with geco 170 gr sp cheap factory ammo), mostly because of all the hate that you see on the forums lately towards Bergara. Again, also there most people that have a bad opinion, doesn't own a rifle of this brand and it seems like they can't accept that there is a spanish made rifle on the marked which is better made and more accurate than their remingtons and that is a good rival for their mighty unfailable tikkas. Then I looked at tikka offerings in depth. A part from the fact that i don't like the look (and the price) of the cerakoted models, i didn't find a single 308 with a 56 cm (22 inch) barrel: only 61 or 51 cm ones. Why? I think 56 cm is the id eal barrel lenght for a hunting 308. Then, i noticed very thin barrels and extremely light or too heavy rifles, without a medium weight rifle. Most offerings didn't even come with threaded barrel. At the end i bought another B14 hunter in 308 and, with prices in Italy, i paid as much as I would have paid a Tikka but in the price i included also a triggertech primary trigger, an aics floorplate, 2 aics 5 shots magazines, scope mount from talley and scope rings from tier one, an harris notched bipod and a mountain grovetech sling. Now i am gonna uograde the stock and put a nightforce on the rifle. Basically at the same price of a scoped and stock improved tikka you can get something very similar to a full customized remington 700 with better barreled action, great trigger, cerakote, stock, accessories.. and my b14 comes at 10 pounds, which in my opinion is the perfect weight for a long range rifle. To who says to directly buy a semicustom.. yeah it would be nice but here in Italy the offerings are limited and very expensive, you have to wait almost a year and i really don't like the look and feel of newer style hunting rifles with fluted bolts and carbon fiber wrapped barrels, even if i am just 31 😂 I will make a HS precision imported here, though. The rifle alone will cost me 6 thousands USD and it will probably be a 7 mm PRC. Ciao Epikarms, thanks for the great content!

  12. Savage is a far cheaper product, compromised in every way to lower production cost. The fact that they are accurate and easier to accurize and easier to rebarrle are all happy accidents! Both want more than they should for each product. Both are well supported in the after market. Last I checked no Nation has used a Savage 110 based rifle for police or for miltary sniper roles. I own 3 Savage 110's . All have been accuraized and rebarreled. Out of the box none of them where anything special! After visits to Sharp Shooters Supply in Ohio and custom barrels they do anything and everything the high dollar customs will do at the range and in competition. Well they are ugly to look at and do not feel silky smooth like a custom action but the price was great! Because of how much slop is in the bolt head most people should consider just lapping the lugs and putting on a nice premium custom pre-fit barrel and seeing how it does. Even though the bold floats I think one should lapp for at least 50% contact on a non-floating bolt head you normaly lap for 80% to 85% locking lug contact. You special tools are needed after you take the barrel off you just put some lapping compound on the bolt face and put pressure on the bolt face with your left thumb and work the bolt with your right hand stopping to check for how much contact you are making. Also Savage bolt heads are not the most robust since they are some form of casting. Even with out lapping they often cup over time and lapping will speed that up. PT&G makes either forged or billet CNC machine replacement bolt heads from a much tougher and more durable steel than Savage uses. For the record Sharp Shooter Supply in Ohio only charges $175 to blue print a Savage action. If you are Military active, reserves, national guard and tell them that and put a copy of your ID in the box they will give you a discount and move your action to the front of the line! I think the Remington 700 Action is the better design but all that matters at the end of the day is real world results which is why I own 3 Savages but no Remington. It came down to cost to purchase, cost to blue print and cost to rebarrrel. Plus the Savage Accu Trigger is a great trigger right out of the box!

  35. Im going to be real here, the level of absurdity has been reached with this getup kids wearing. See I first thought it was absolutely the ultimate absurdity when I discovered people were reviewing weapons for self-defense purposes that had never served in the military or have ever been in self defense scenarios. We used to roll around the floor at Ranger regiment laughing at all the losers on YouTube playing GI Joe while we were out doing the work. Or laughing at "run and gun" videos. But when I found out the same losers we're wearing our military gear and getting away with it being perceived as experts that changed things. Chest Rigs and the like are not created for civilian shooters although they will hold your mags just the same. They are created with the express purpose of fast deployment of ammunition in a gunfight scenario. A situation which never occurs as a civilian. Thereby Inherently all civilian usage is based upon the perceived notion it looks cool. So there's a level of fantasy to it. As a former Special Forces operative and as a gun enthusiast that f**** scares me. Because after all sanity is grounded in reality. When dealing with the world of fantasy one becomes further and further away from that. To all those who will say its a convenience factor only so is a fanny pack yet I see no one doing that. And to anyone that wishes to argue, I'm three deployments deep a psychology degree and two voluntary deployments in the game. Please do not comment if you're not playing ball in the same stadium
