  3. My grandmother died last year. I wrote a poem to be included in the funeral program that was given to all the attendees. After the service, someone came up to me and complimented me on the poem, then immediately followed up by asking if I wrote it myself or used AI. I'm still struggling to find a way to articulate how that interaction made me feel. It's like everyone signed a contract to forfeit our humanity and I somehow missed the memo.

  9. Thank you for making this video. As an artist, and someone who digs art in general, the AI bullshit has been rough. I can't shut it out, people around me are talking about it, constantly reminding me how the potential loss of something so vital to me "isn't even the worst that can happen" or "isn't so bad" (a friend basically wants to start an AI worshipping cult yay). Hell, my familly who considers themselves anti AI bought AI generated christmas decorations ! There also the case of a guy pushing very freaking hard his adds for AI tools training. On facebook groups meant to find jobs in the animation and videogame industry. He even had the galls to quote "I have a dream" in one of his adds. I can't shut it out because it's wormed its way everywhere around me. There's a sense of hopelessness, of being completely cornered, and even people who are in the damn art buisness are looking forward to that ! I've had to hear someone pitch his "dream game made entirely in AI, so that a game could finally have a soul" ! I can't. Games already have souls damnit (at least when the industry doesn't sand it off) I'm not even a big artist, hell I'm not an average artist. I'm a complete nobody, and now even if I succed, the most I can look forward to is having my voice taken from me and my art made into the most dead-inside version of itself so someone else can get the credit. It's an artist's existential nightmare in two damn letters. So yeah, thanks for making this video. Because maybe for the first time since this started I feel like I'm not alone in this. Because knowing this is what I hang on to when I feel like deleting my accounts and art off of the internet, and giving up on sharing it. Because that's what art is about. Knowing you're not alone.

Specifically, a float is stored as 1.mantissa x 2^exponent, where the mantissa is a binary number. The number closest (but not equal) to 2 is hence 1.111...1b x 2^0 with 53 1s, equal to 1.99999999999999977795539507497 in decimal. Up to rounding, this is f(52) shown in the video! On the next iteration, there is no nearer representable number -- it simply rounds to 2! And indeed, it takes 52 iterations to get to this point, because at the nth iteration, a is 2^-n away from 2.   34. I played hard-to-get for a while, but it was just a game and YouTube knew it. It put "The continuity of splines" in my recommendations. I pretended not to notice. It kept putting it there. I opened the link into a new tab. I closed the tab a few days later. But the algorithm knew it had me. Our little dance continues. I did not expect what I got, though. This is an utterly amazing video. It took me so far into mathematics that would otherwise have been impenetrable, and tied it into real-world experience and intuition. On a meta-level, it's a master course on how to create a master course. I think anyone involved in education--from YouTubers to curriculum and textbook creators--could learn a lot from this video.

And I assumed that it wouldn't be very likely that I come across another medium that was as unique, as informative, thought provoking and a million other adjectives.   40. Well I found your video One mont ago, I constantly got stuck on my math study. I just hit a wall where one sentence contained 8 words and 4 were unone to me. With the help of your videos I were able to punch through these walls. So Im just here to express my gratitude. I think streams are better than edited videos bechause on stream ppl make you distracted with seemingly unimportant or trivial questions(probably responsible for your headaches :p ). Answering Those questions make a difference between getting stuck or punching through another barier, for people who are self thaugt. We miss a lot off puzzle pieces. So thanks again! It feels great to slowly understand math and seeing how impossible problens turning to fun games!

  43. It's interesting to try and understand the commutativity rules assumed throughout the talk. Freya glossed over these details, probably for time reasons, but it's interesting to track the differences and make sure the reasons they differ make sense. For example at 23:15 Freya wrote down (ax)(bx) as (abxx) as part of distributing terms, but at 30:47 we needed a careful application of a rule we'd derived to turn (xy)(xy) into (-xxyy) even though that's the exact same rearrangement of factors. The fact that scalars (like the a or b coeffecients) commute with everything while you have to be careful with other mathematical objects like the basis units until you show how they do or don't commute, might not be obvious unless you've taken a rigorous algebra class before, but it is true! In theory the same thing is true for associativity -- some mathematical objects don't have the associative property and then almost none of the rearrangements of mathematical expressions Freya did would be legal, but luckily everything from this talk has the associativity property so we can ignore that detail entirely.

  45. I love first time dnd campaigns. It's always so fun to see everyone get into the game but a lot of newer players bring a lot of creativity you don't see from folks who have played a lot. A lot of fighters wouldn't have tried to talk through the first fight like Kyra, or made their house neat and climby/vertical like Pearl. Even Tristelle coming out of the house with a glass of wine in hand rather than assuming a fight is going on was fun. Koibu's a blast as always. Looking forward to the next episode!

  50. Watched this all the way to the end. Your animation skills are superb. So many little embellishments and tweaks and fairy dust that you really didn't have to do, but you gave us anyway. Don't think we didn't notice the subtle fades as vectors neared the end of curves, the animated circles as knots appeared, the motion blur on pretty much EVERYTHING. You are awesome. Thank you so much. Oh, and your vocal delivery was absolutely fine. I find your voice very clear and pleasant to listen to. If you'd put "more personality" into it then it might have become distracting: I think you pitched it just right. The only think I didn't really need in this video was the music (I have a thing about that) - but in this case it wasn't a problem because you seem to have chosen music that wasn't at all distracting. I had occasion to research Hermite splines a few years ago for my job: my task was to animate vehicles in a map of an industrial location, with a certain amount of AI involved, as if they had human drivers and were given goals to complete. Hermite curves seemed the best way to handle the constraints, and I had a lot of fun doing that. However, my knowledge of splines is only a fraction of what you've shown here, and I learned a lot from this video.
