As a result of that negligence, content creators are under constant attack when they should be inundated with gratitude and appreciation. Each video is a gift and I thank you for each and every one.   12. I always hated working on collision-damaged cars. There is always the risk of significant STORED energy in places where you would not expect it. Disassembly of such a car for repairs can be very dangerous. A frame member doesn't have to be called a spring to ACT like a spring! Much respect to the good folks still in the trenches daily doing this work. Be careful under there, Ray.

  16. I work at a hardware store and this is how it looks when paint spills, all thick and growing the more you try to clean it. We use cardboard to pick it up, scraping it, then and only then we use rags ! I feel your pain!!

  21. Replacing an alternator without testing the battery or even cleaning the posts and clamps, one of my peeves. Hope you sent the link to this video to her father who probably didn't plug in the airflow sensor properly, among a few other failures.

  28. as a teenager I spun a rod bearing, over revved engine, was too poor to buy new motor, or used motor. so I pulled oil pan, & bought 1 rod bearing, back then you could get 1 bearing, 35+ years ago, I polished crank with wet/dry 600 grit paper, lubricated with kerosene, & used a shoestring wrapped around paper on rod journal. it worked. now when I put new rod bearing in, rod was loose on crankshaft, so I removed & took the cap & sanded cap on 400 grit paper, glued to a piece of glass, I know I only did 1 side, but I managed to tighten clearances, & I drove car for over 25k miles without issues, I was always afraid to mash throttle too hard, & it lasted until I was able to get another car & was a little more financially stable. the car was a 1964 Impala, & that engine is still in it, & it has been siting close to 30 years in my back yard.

  33. I wouldn’t let my techs get into cars like that. I had no problems with turning those cars away. I was always booked three weeks out so I could afford to pick and chose the work that I let in. I would often send overflow to other local shops.

  37. Hey Ray. I just wanted to thank you for saving me hundreds of dollars. My check engine light popped on the other day and the car went into limp mode and ran rough. I thought it might have been bad gas but I thought of how you would diagnose the problem. I ran a scan and it told me that there was a misfire on #1. I cleared the code and ran it some more and the same code, P0301, came up again. So I pulled the plug on #1 and looked at it and it looked fine. I then swapped the coils between #1 and #3, scanned it and the problem moved to #3. I bought a new coil and put it in and “presto!” the scan came up clear. Watching you do this exact thing gave me the confidence that I could do what turned out to be a simple fix. BTW, it was on a Lexus with the 4GR engine, so I am really glad the problem wasn’t on #4 or #6.😅 Also, I kept catching myself saying “click.”

  43. I'm not here to diss Snap-On (I have my eyes on one of those digital torque + angle Torque Wrenches Snappy sells) but I do own that HF torque wrench you have haha. It works good, I like the nice click, and in the mid range (Around 60-100) it's pretty darn accurate, last I checked mine it was only off by about 1 ft/lb give or take. Lots of HF stuff is ok. But when you work with the tools all day, for 10 hours a day (like I do) you want tools that are more than just "ok"
