My Grand father R.I.P Helped create and develop the Patriot missile and AMRAAM Missile he was a Senior Engineer for Raytheon, He also worked for Rocketdyne and Hercules in his younger years after he left the Navy. Thank you for covering this it reminded me how Proud I am of my Grand father, He would have loved this video and could have given you so so so much more information on the Patriot Missile.

  9. Very well done. I served as FO, FDO, and XO in the late 60s in 105, 155, 8-inch, and 175mm units. It was the time when everything went from manual computations to the magic of FADAC. It was a courts-martial offense for the battalion commander to try and use the generator that the FADC had assigned to it. That is just how special that Big Box was. Lots of memories. We took ourselves "out" one night during a critical fire mission. We had to pull the long tubes up off their blocks and relay them. We did it in the dark without much thought about where the shock wave from a zone three mission was going to go. After the third round, the FDC was in shambles; chart tables, radios, the lights, and much of the sandbag roof was on the floor, and we could not even tell battalion what had happened. Guess who showed up at first light? He had wings on his collar. I love that shit!

  18. I deployed with this unit back in 2004 doing what McBeth did. Sucked so much. Not the unit just the deployment. felt like ISAF was a black hole of intel. Canadians were really cool. Oh well. Decided to become a nurse instead. Never been happier. I miss somethings about intel though. I thought I was pretty good at it and many of my NCOs from Night hawk were responsible for that. I still think about you guys.

  23. About to start my new job on Monday as a Cyber Security Analyst at my current company. I've moved internally from their service desk. Fortunately the budget is there for training and I've been told they'll pay for pretty much anything I need. Security+ is first on the agenda.

I've also been working in the field for almost a year as a SOC analyst intern. This is very good advice that I've also been trying to follow myself. I don't make the money yet to really save since I'm an intern but I've been trying to find time to study for the Sec+. Ty for reaffirming what I've been trying to tell myself since I started in 2017 😅.

  25. I served in an army that it is better not to mention. The first time I ate in a US Army mess hall, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. If ever I have to go to war against the USA, I will surrender at the first opportunity, just for the food.

  28. I think you summed it up pretty well. I was in the Marines from 2010-2016, got out as an E4. I’m in the process of obtaining my commission in the Navy, but I will forever be a Marine first and foremost. It reminds me simply, to do my absolute damnedest to be better than the next guy.

  38. I remember a discussion in the comments of a video with a guy that claimed to have served. He was a Marine or army...or at least he claimed to be. The discussion was at the beginning of this year. The guy said that in his experience drones are overrated. Now, the guy admitted that he left the Army or Corps 8 years ago but claimed to still have friends in the armed who kept him up to date. He claimed drones can be jammed (and they can be) and that they are unreliable so the Marine Corps made a mistake in getting rid of them. He pretty much claimed that drones haven't changed too much. I just focused on the drones. He mentioned the new active protection systems. I mentioned that they probably won't be that effective against drones. He didn't like that. I never mentioned that they won't be that effective against anti-tank weapons in general compared to reactive armour or just solid armour. I've told him that drones are probably one of the main issues and that the technology to protect the tanks (like an active protection system) is at best in development. Now, there is technology that can protect a unit, be it artillery, tank, infantry from drones but if you take the tanks out that equipment can be used to protect something else. Tanks will need their own protection systems against drones. I never mentioned the new artillery and "smart weapons". The tank is not dead but it sure isn't going to be useful to the Marine Corps.

  39. When I went to Iraq people complained about food because that's what soldiers do. Things weren't fully set up like they eventually would be because this was 2003 and things had just kicked off. When you're the originals, you do the setting up for everyone who comes after. We had a lot of MREs with the occasional hot meal sprinkled in here and there. But we never went hungry. Things were rationed for a while, both food and water. But considering what 4ID had to deal with when they had to switch from the Turkey plan to going through Kuwait, I can't really complain. From WWII on, American military logistics has been first class.

  40. So the point you made about University Maryland is a good one. I worked as an IT contactor many years ago at a telecoms company. One of my tasks was to go around and purchase as many domain names that where similar or where derogatory about the company. Thereby mitigating some of the potential risks to customers that have highlighted here. This can also be applied to e-mail addresses too. Good job for bringing this to public attention. 👍

  44. APC and a variety of armored vehicles will always be of use. They effectively force the defending military/populace into using AT weapons and these things aren't cheap pieces of kit on their own and every single person can't use one. Limiting small arms capability to dismounted soldiers or gunners. Or heavy military assets. This immunity to small arms fire means that it always has a place, but yeah. You can make a better autonomous tank with more armor and better specifications more easily. Scaled up to the original price and you have a superior, sturdier tank. Cost/benefit ratio of having manned tanks is changing rapidly.

  50. Hello! I’m in the navy and part of my job is aircraft firefighting. If the foam was something that desperately needed to be cleaned, they could rinse it with water and then brush that water off with brooms to clear most of it (source: I’ve had to do it). If freezing is a concern I don’t see why they wouldn’t be able to salt it or something since corrosion isn’t such a big deal on concrete tarmacs as far as I’m aware
