Visited Japan in Autumn and had the most stress-free time ever. However, I would like to visit in the summer. Already did the tourist hot-spots on my first tip. So for the summer trip..I was thinking of a more laid-back itinerary exploring small villages, beaches and other coastal areas in search of that Ghibli vibe. lol. I don't know if I'll find it,..but watching Japanese animes and listening to retro Jpop songs always makes me want to experience a Japanese summer since many songs and movies seem to romanticize it.

โย @typerightseesightย Not only in the US . But if the house have good ventilation, it is OK. Burn wood is also toxic indoor

Amazing cultural norms in Japan

Visit Japan, Live in Japan, Work in Japan, Make friends in Japan, Have gratitude in Japan, Love Japan but always have a backup if not two...

I was just in Japan this past November and I have got to say this is one of the best videos I've seen in terms of content and explanation. Fantastic Job! I can't wait to watch more of your videos.

I imagine it helps boost your immune system.

I get it nao... but can I just hangout with you for a week ๐ (december 20-29)
4
I always use the ATM in 7-11 they have good exchange rates.

Hi, I'm in the middle of planning to visit japan around 1st of june until the 10th.. How's the estimated weather around that time? Thank you in advance!

I think it's great that Japanese people expect foreigners to respect their culture. The reason Europe and America are in so much trouble is that we decided we had to adapt our culture to suit foreigners, and that they don't have to respect our culture at all, not exactly a recipe for success.

Even the scams in Japan seem nicer as far wondering monks most foreigners would think it some sort of performance art. Personally only real bad I heard about is the bars but to be honest with Google and YouTube why would anyone bother. Worse thing in Japan would be taking cannabis with you on your flight.

I studied abroad in Japan for the summer 5 years ago: one time I didn't pay attention to the direction the train I got on was going in, and after realizing my mistake I got off at the next stop... bad idea ๐ The next stop was a small platform in a rural area, and there was absolutely no internet connection on my phone. I had no idea when the next train was coming and soon had to use the bathroom (of course, there were none at the station). A few trains passed by until finally one stopped (luckily heading in the correct direction for me) and I quickly hopped on. Travellers: don't forget to pay attention to train directions! ๐๐

We booked a trip to japan on the 2nd week of September. What would we expect weather wise in Japan? So excited!

The main difference is with a bed, you can customize your experience. If you want a very firm mattress - itโs an option. With the floor, not so much.

Thank you Nao for your videos! I just came back from a visit to Japan and felt as though your videos helped me a lot! Even your videos about yourself are interesting to me and make my days better! Please continue to post and stay healthy!

I think it is impossible to find Japan boring ๐

Italians would call sushi something that Japanese have never seen before sushi, so there is no problem. Incidentally, American sushi and teriyaki sauce are also completely unknown to the Japanese.

@ I miss it so much!

interesting

Good advice! We had a family holiday late last year in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Kurashiki and Takayama. Two nights in a ryokan in Takayama was a highlight ๐. Weโve booked to go next March-April to Kyushu for onsen, scenery, food and ryokans ๐คฉ. And hopefully cherry blossoms ๐ธ.

The phrase I wish to learn for my second trip to Japan is how to say to someone that was nice and helpful : "Thank you, it is kind." Would it be : "Arigato ! Yasashi dess ! " ? ๐๐ธ

Excellent video, thank you. I would add that I used google maps or asked my hotel questions since not only do most people not feel very comfortable speaking English, they are often trying to get to work or school or home or an appointment and I didn't want to delay them. And just because someone works in an area does not mean they know it any better than you do. Also, do your homework on the culture before going and be a good guest in Japan. I can't stress that enough. Cringy or creepy tourist behavior is extremely out of place in Japan and is unfair to the people there. Carry a small plastic bag in your coat or backpack for your trash until you return to your hotel. Tokyo is not Vegas, so there is far more to see then trying to just party in what is a very orderly society. Maybe that is part of why the trains stop running at midnight. Middle eastern and Indian food are also restaurant options.

Is the Japanese government trying to bring back the Closed Door Policy?

I ate ramen in Nakamise Dori (Asakusa) and I ordered ramen through the machine. I made a mistake using the machine and the staff was kind enough to help me.

๐Hi Nao, I guess the altar was called "Budsudan." Yes, it is important to honor our ancestrals. I go once a week to the cemetery. ๐ธ๐ธ๐ธ๐ธ

Thank you for convincing me to live in countryside.
4
I noticed new houses in Japan are being built with crappy plastic shingles that only APPEAR to be traditional shingles. It's a shame. This type of crapification is happening my country as well. Very sad to see, folks. Very sad. Too much corporate greed.

Greetings from The Netherlands, I just discovered your channel and liked this video so much! I would love it, if one day you could make a video about homosexuality in Japan, how Japanese society sees gay people, and maybe a bit about the Japanese gay community itself. And if there is a difference between how older Japanese people and younger ones look at it.
4
Thank you! This is very useful ๐๐ผ have to be vigilant๐

๐Hi Nao. I appreciate your tips. Don't worry, I will tell everything if I survive. ๐ฌ๐ฌ

am planning to come fall 2023 to japan. heard it's hot as hell during the summer.
3
i'm visiting next week for 20 days
3
from a foreigners perspective, the shibuya crossing is amazing because of its sheer volume. it may be just a big crossing to the Japanese, but its a completely insane size crossing to a new zealander and it was a lot of fun. also Shibuya 109 has the best vending machine in japan - hokkaido whipped cream ;) Rokurinsha i found in tokyo station was well worth the line, and so was Katsudon Chiyomatsu in Osaka. thanks for a great video and your english is very good :) i am back in japan in september and i cant wait!

i have visited japan at least a dozen times and... screw all of this. decide on what you want to see and just go for it. i enjoy mountain climbing and hiking so i will definitely visit every year in August. learn to deal with the weather, but prioritize what you like to see/do. if you want to see cherry blossoms, do it. if you want to see autumn leaves, do it. if you want to see snow, do it. don't let the crowd/humidity/temperature/weather deter you from doing what you like.
3
I watched one of your videos and subscribed immediately. Now trying to watch more. Great content!

Small community, service to community, regional customs and dialects, less focus on material activities, less congestion. Hmm, I seemed to have missed the deterrents. I was thinking issues would be more along the lines of maintaining property, buying, selling and transacting in Japan, living there without long term visa. I wonder how hard it would be to live there half the year as a tourist.
3
If you plan on coming to Japan, come to one of my meetups! Itโs a rare opportunity to meet and talk to locals who enjoy speaking English and meeting Foreigners
3
LOL heading over in 2 weeks to Japan april 17-may 2nd. so 6 days of golden week.
3
I had the same experience but I did have random taxi drivers who only accepted cash and I was not anywhere profoundly rural. Always good to be prepared.
3
Which towns did you visit?
3
I recommend crystal deodorant sticks for travelers. They work well, don't melt in hot weather, and they're odorless.
3
I never buy souvenirs when I travel. Pictures from my camera are my souvenir. I will pack less to accommodate my suitcase with good trendy clothes I buy there.๐
3
Did you mean to say Golden week is end of Apr to early 'May' ?
3
yes, he shows picture after
3
Dude, I know you're Japanese and hate confrontation but if some guy asks me for money for taking a picture of me I will just laugh in his face and walk away.
3
Freak monks are not just in Japan. I've definitely seen them in China as well.

You might do well with oil-filled radiator heaters. That's what I use in the bathroom. My Central Heating crapped out and I never bothered to get it fixed. It was horribly inefficient. The house is very old and the insulation is not good. So these concepts from your video are very familiar. I have two new window heatpumps, and I use gas wall heaters and electric space heaters. - Lessons in architecture, With Central Plumbing instead of Central Heating, you only need spot heating. It looks like you centralize livingspaces and allow outward rooms to contribute to the insulating value of the exterior walls, and you can close off rooms with high ceilings.
