  1. Just found your channel and love the content! I'm in Florida 🌴🌺 luckily and only a few times a year get below 50° fahrenheit like this week. I am an older disabled woman on low income. I am fascinated by everything in Asian culture including martial arts, fantasy historical movies and tv series! I especially love the simplicity of life using ingenious practical ways of maintaining simple comforts on little money. I would definitely have issues with sleeping on the floor though. I wouldn't be able to get up or down and the surface too hard. I wish I grew up learning Asian healthy living and mindfulness with the constant connection with Nature. 😌✨🙏🌎✌️💚

  2. Thanks for sharing these points -- I learned a lot of these through experience while living in Japan! How common is it to ask strangers to take your picture? I asked some Japanese people to take my picture when I was in museums and that seemed to be acceptable.

  4. The currency exchanges are expensive! But the ATMs (with a no foreign transaction fee debit card) are a much better way to go. You can order currency before you go to Japan too.

  7. My only bad experience was Kabukicho. People who work for the clubs are pretty aggressive and grabby. The rest of Japan was めっちゃスゴイ!

  8. Been to Japan in all seasons prior to covid. I must say October was the perfect time for me. The weather at that time was just perfect. Not too hot and cool weather^^

  9. I went to Japan spring this year and there were a couple of places where I didn‘t enjoy the place even if they was beautiful because there were too many people, especially Kyoto and Nara. Most of the places that we visited, though, were not as crowded since we went to lesser known cities. What I really enjoyed the most throughout my trip was the food.

  15. I can guess it has something to do with 3/4 of the tourists come from middle-classed areas in mainland China. They are xenophobic against Japanese while visiting there all the time, behaving like locusts. It's really sad, because it's always Hong Kongers like me and Taiwanese who gets our reputation ruined here and there.

  20. We will be there at the start of October this year! Very glad that we chose that time. We like warm weather, but not too warm. It sounds like October is the ideal for being outside, seeing the sites, without getting exhausted by heat and humidity, or deterred by the cold. And see the leaves changing sounds every bit as magical as the cherry blossoms! Great videos! :)

  23. I can understand why Italians may be shocked and appalled by Napolitan Spaghetti, but it doesn't look too bad. If you didn't tell anyone about the ketchup it seems like they may not notice its there.

Another tip when planning take into account long walks inside train stations and see in advance what exit you will need in your destination station. for large stations plan for at least 30 min before boarding a train or metro just to get to the platforms or from the platforms out of the stations.

  25. For the plug adapter, most of us in the US will have a 3 prong plug for our laptops. A lot of hotels did not have a 3 prong plug. So we had to go to Daiso, they sell a 2 prong extension which does not have the 3rd prong, but it has a 2 prong which will slip onto the plug and allow you to plug into the outlets in Japan. It's a little white adapter they sell.

  26. Have been knocking myself out trying to figure out how to avoid renting a car to visit some places and finally concluded I needed to forget it and rent a car. I'm seeing Airbnbs in most places and one of the owners told me to "please be careful."

  28. Thank you for the explanations. Very interesting. Some people in the West have a tendency to LOOK for reasons to be disappointed (or complain), unfortunately. Japan is not boring. Those complaining are selfish. The complaints are a way to gain attention (their true goal). No matter where they would be, these people would complain. (^.-) Social media is a reflection of this. Some people only give negative comments but fail to post better videos. (^.^) Happiness is a choice. Being bored is a choice. Some will always chose these. Shou ga nai. (^.-)

  30. I live in England. I lived without central heating for years. My pipes didn't freeze. "No central heating" is not the same as "no heating" i.e. unheated. The home is *clearly heated. You wouldn't live with no heating, you'd live with no central heating. You'd still have space heating and the temperature in your home wouldn't drop below freezing. Ergo, your pipes wouldn't freeze.

  33. 5:39 is just common sense to keep the area you use clean and tidy. It shows respect to those you are with and those you are visiting EVEN if that is a business you are at like a restaurant. I really wish everyone would grasp that part of common sense when they in Japan and anywhere they go on this planet.

As an American child, I absolutely loved the beauty and aesthetics of many forms of the simplicity and refinement of Japanese living So much so, that I built a Japanese-inspired garden, and much of my decor is Japanese through which my heart and life are always joyful. I practice Buddhism and understand the beauty for which it creates in the practitioner's life. I have found that the Japanese aesthetics are the most refined and beautiful in the world. Being grateful for the lessons that i have learned from my ancestors is a core part of my existence, even though they had very difficult lives, they taught me what not to duplicate. These are the greatest lessons we can embrace to have a more loving and refined happy and prosperous lifestyle. I love your videos!!!

  38. I think the best time to visit any country is exactly when you have time to go. Not to say there aren't better or worse dates, but most people have smaller windows of vacation times.

  39. I have applied to 3 ALT jobs in Japan and have been rejected by all them. I have a health issue I take a medication for, and I'm pretty sure one rejected me because of this. I've been teaching English online for 4 years, and am at an intermediate of Japanese level. I have specialized TEFL certificates. I don't ever really like Japanese anime anymore, but like Japanese history and culture. I feel very discouraged.

  41. ​ @romancetips365 my old house was 100 yrs old and had like 3 of those wall mounted gas heaters (one mounted in the fireplace) to warm the house, was quite nice as long as rooms had the door open, we had a space heater in the bathrooms for when we needed to be in there for more than 30 , minutes

  43. best strawberry daifuku was in the basement food store of the K'netsu store in Nara. Well, that's just my opinion. I also enjoyed the shopping on several floors of that building.

  50. Up here in Canada we just drink a lot of beer and whiskey to keep warm hahaha... warm stews and soups are also really enjoyed :)
