I've created a short music video with original music and the video content from a copyrighted movie (will post it later today), and I think based on what you've said and from what I've seen elsewhere, this should be fine under Fair Use - the main thing being that its only 2mins long, transformative, and a positive reflection on the original work.

  19. Great video. The copyright business is always a pain when seeking a video clip to use in a Youtube video. So many grey areas. As somebody who regularly posts up movie reviews on my channel, I always agonise over the legality of using even a very short movie clip in my videos. Same with using movie stills. But now, having watched your video, I am much more in the light now about the Fair Use act.

  23. There is an incredible level of craftsmanship and artistry in this video, as well as your previous works. Your editing skills are probably some of the very best on the entire platform, you're almost like the Sam Kolder of documentaries. My only constructive criticism is that I think your thumbnails could be a little better. I'm not saying this to be negative at all, but I think if you improved your thumbnails even 10-20% so that they match the quality of the video, your channel will explode. I didn't click on your videos for the first few weeks I was shown them because I assumed from the thumbnails that your channel was an inferior version of Jake Tran's. Of course, after finally clicking one, I found your videos are 11/10, and you have very much your own unique voice and style. I've been working hard lately to improve my editing skills, but yours are truly next level, and are definitely an inspiration for me to continue striving much further.

  34. With the Chili's episode everyone always talks about how Michael's forging a personal connection, but what you should also be noting is the timing of when Michael interjects. Because when Jan first starts bringing up business he stays quiet, it's only when the client raises his objection to the price that Michael changes the subject. Because he knows that Dunder Mifflin cannot compete with their competitors pricing, so instead he changes the subject with a deliberate purpose: to emphasize that he is a local area guy and Dunder Mifflin is a local area company which is an important point of value since they're talking about providing supplies for the county. It's saying "I know this place i grew up here, so we'll treat you right as a client. And OUR prices wont change." In the episode where Jim and Dwight do something similiar by emphasising Dunder Mifflins customer service compared to their competitors. When everyones main objection is price, and you cant lower your prices, then instead you have to emphasize what that price is really paying for that you wont be getting from the other guys.

I'm aware you and your editor use Premier Pro and After Effects. My partner signed up to skillshare via your link and followed the tutorial you previously recommended. However, it helps understand Premier pro as a whole but not the beautiful well made motion graphics you use in your videos. That documentary style, well designed and edited footages of yours is something I need to learn one step at a time with direction instead of looking for tutorials all over the place. Could you possibly direct me with steps into how exactly can I achieve structure of content creation? Once again, thanks for your binge-worthy content.
