You are very near or on top of the source I think, but hey, I've only just begun the hobby at 68 for the fresh air, exercise and Nature. You explain and teach wonderfully, and we gain incredible knowledge from your source. You make your pop proud Jeff. Constant learning is the backstop. I used to think after I got out of college I would be done learning, but could not have been more wrong. Indeed, that’s when it just starts.

The worms… you have uncovered the remains of young Shai Hulud, also known when that small as sand trout, the earth surrounding them will be saturated with the residue they exude, known as Spice. If you inhale it in sufficient quantities you will become a “Navigator” with the ability to fold space and thereby transport entire starships across space! Nice discovery Jeff.

  41. I do have a comment that might just be one of the most important: I have always loved rockhounding and mining -- especially when I was younger. Unfortunately, I never took it seriously. As I got older, I found myself wanting to get out more and more, but my body began to break down to the point that now, all I can do is watch videos, longing for the days when I was strong enough to do those kind of things that I really loved to do. If mining is something that you want to do, do it while you can! There are many associations and clubs that you can join, where you can learn from those that have more experience than you, and you'll find that most of these folks are really good at what they do and are more than willing to share thier experience with you. I'm house bound now, and all I can do is look back and say, I wish I could still do that, but I can't. All I can do is watch Jeff and Ralph, and others. Do it while you can. It's hard work, but it's fulfilling and fun. Don't just think about it, go do it while you can. Blessings to you all. ❤

  46. Jeff an easy way to drill in rock is to put a flat hard river rock in a bucket or large can. Fill with water about half the length of the drill. Set the bucket close to your drill hole. Dip the drill bit in the water and start drilling. When the flutes start to fill with rock dust paste and you feel or hear the motor start to load up pull out the drill bit. The flutes will be packed full of rock dust paste. Set the drill bit tip in the water bucket on top of the rock then trigger the drill. The rock paste will come off instantly. Be sure you are in hammer mode and the tip of the drill is in contact with the rock. Sounds complicated but it keeps your hole clean, your bit cool, drills much faster no blowing out dust and your bits last a lot longer. Try it you'll like it. Also works well for drilling 1" holes into dirt to make pilot holes for setting T posts.

  49. Osceola. My heart. 90s bob osland owned the big claim I was a 30 yr old green horn nuggets in his tromel as big as his hand. I did not touch I felt honored. He told me they had just ran everything above the road that cut his claim in half. Go work the road. I found a handful of big clunkers the biggest was 32 grams I showed them to bob. Expecting him to take them. He smiled. Do you have the fever ? He asked. Bob was a good guy. Stayed in a camper in the old townsite. He was 50 then. If he's alive he'd be 90. I'll see him again. Good folks have a place on God's creek in heaven. I hope i make it. Osceola. Jeff I never thought you'd give up the honey hole. That's why in my earlier chats 3 years ago and before I always refered to it as the big 0. The largest nugget ever in Nevada history came from there. 86 pounds. It was immediately melted and I've been in those Chinese mines. Immaculate to this day cleaned floors like it's concrete stacked rocks like a rock wall. Precision. Not like us. Race though things with excavators anyway i lit up when you said the big O⁵

BUT, that most certainly hasn't stopped me watching and learning a heck of a lot on geology from you Jeff. I could watch you open an envelope and find it interesting!
