Does "Mark" on mars have anything to do with Mark Watney from The Martian? Just curious because it's my favourite movie

Thanks!

Ah yes, a physics professor who only thinks theoretically and doesn't perform his own experiments. Got caught up in thinking how this could never work rather than thinking of this as a real world problem. The divide by zero issue is something that needed to be thought of in a real world sense, not just mathematically. And the wheel car and board simplification was perfect as well. Fun all around, but this shows the difference between physics and engineering.

@veritasium what if you put an image of one of your previous videos before you changed the thumbnail and the video after you changed it and put the number of views below each image
7
You know Derek's getting serious when he brings out the Christoffel symbols

A system where the creator can upload multiple titles and thumbnails and then youtube adjusts both automatically to then after some time settle on one version or even personalize both for different people with different interests.

Thanks!

What this video demonstrated to me is that some people's brains truly see the world and think differently and God bless their existence. I hung in until 23:13 then, smoke came from the wheels grinding in my head

I love the new things I learn from watching this channel. They may not be things that I would ever use in my daily life but darnit they sure are interesting and fun to watch.

Thanks for demystify this ❤

Congratulations on the YouTube original Derek!

Right, I actually wrote the same thing and then deleted the comment when Derek said it immediately after I had written the comment.

Petr is such a good fit for ur channel, I love his energy always excited to learn and explore. insanely high production quality as always

RF engineer here. Great to see HFSS! Antenna engineers think in Maxwell’s equations all the time. Imagine it as impedance matching the conducting structures to the impedance of free space. Would love to see you delve into antenna design at some point.

Such an inspiring story, and still full of deep technical insights. Fantastic!

@The_Tactical_Taco They produce FAR less brake dust than normal cars. Most of the stopping in electric vehicles is done by regenerative braking, ie running the motor as a generator, not by using the discs and pads. Asphalt is already one of the widely recycled products. Road wear from the slight increase in weight of passenger vehicles with batteries is nothing compared to the road wear produced by heavy vehicles and degradation by weather.

Re-watching again, as same joy as ago

This is awesome! It's the kind of quality that I would show my Chemistry classes as an introduction to potassium as an element. Really rich in content and the editing/effects are really slick. I see the hate in the comments but I completely disagree. You and your team have done a great job!

2 videos within 3 days is such a treat from veritasium

Thank you for the amazing video, it’s exactly what I needed to see going into 2024, and a reminder on how to overcome workplace challenges. Looking forward to all the great videos this year!

Remember when you came to nyc to that school called lycee francais de New York, I’m one of the students and I really enjoy your videos

Pot + Ash : Never knew this

Subscribing to this channel was the best thing I have ever done.

The video "Can You Solve This?" is probably the most impactful to me. Really changed the way I think about things till today!

Great work by relativity space, it's such a marvelous sight. I agree with you on 3D printing being the future for aerospace! Love the Omaze campaign and Space For Humanity!! Awesome video, Derek, Raquel and the Team!! Have a great day! With best regards, Darsh from SpaceKind!

I 've watched many videos to understand gravity and space time curve. This is the only video explains it correctly. its a masterpiece
6
The quality of this is insane!! Looking forward to future episode

Best video yet on this channel?

I hear you, I'm in engineering and I have a background in Photography. I agree, People don't understand how someone can be interested in science/engineering and art.

Congrats!!! I am a small edutainment channel myself, and you have been a great guideline for my channel! (Your 6 Degrees of Separation video helped me a lot for my own video on that concept, it’s my favorite thing to think about). I hope to see much more content in the next ten years, and I hope to reach at least a fraction of your level someday! :)

Really excellent work, and a beautiful way to wrap it up by relating it to how we should relate to each other. Kudos!

Been subscribed for 6 years now. And I'm still as much excited for this notification as I was back then. Love your videos hope you reach 8M soon. ❤️

I think most people don't fully grasp the gravity of this matter.

This is such a good video ! Can't believe LED had this deep dramatic story 😂

Thanks for all your ideas and efforts! I’m indeed intersted with your approach and also facts that you’ve been delivering. Best wishes from Hanoi, Vietnam. Hope we can meet in an unforseen day. Cheers!

Great video. Unlike some of the comments here, I quite like the fast-paced presentation and the animations. Though the over-sized mouths and eyes in the animated people were a bit unsettling. 😅
5
Derek. Wow. You have outdone yourself. Purely from an educational perspective, the use of visuals, the depth of information, the terse but completeness of sharing, this is the best video I have ever seen from you. Great job.
5
Really like this video! The model of the mine, the production and locations!! It was all great. Thanks for such good content

This is the most in-depth/digestible video on the internet. I know this because I spent a whole month looking for something as in-depth as this and never found one, with the exclusion of a small handful that did go this deep, but were geared towards people with advanced phd's.

I have seen a lot of potassium and water reactions and that was by far one of the best ones. The force of the reaction on the water caused the polycarbonate container to act like a spring. Awesome, also be careful with that stuff, polycarbonate can be extremely sharp when it breaks the right way. Top three worst cuts I saw over 20 years of working as a cook. Meat slicer, slicing knife, and polycarbonate. Not exaggerating.

I always beleived in this channel ..lots of love from india 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

"If you need another reason to hate paper straws" I died. 😂 Good job!

What you do that adds the most value, in my opinion: covering the science that is kind of tucked away. The shade balls, joint-less mechanisms, and origami applications are all great examples of this. Keep doing what you do!

Thanks!
