  5. I have always said that the real population of the PRC is at most 900 million. With all of the surplus deaths because of COVID, air pollution, water pollution and even food pollution, super high cancer rates, it is probably closer to 750-850 million. This actually quantities what I have long suspected. Add to all of this the ultra low birth rate/woman and an overall shortage of women in China and this makes perfect sense. Awesome job Lei! And the Chinese have been migrating AWAY from China for decades.

  12. This is truly eye opening. I had read a couple of years ago that they had used cell phone as a metric to measure the actual size of China's population. The article stated everyone is issued a phone number when born, kind of like a SSI number here in the US, and just by looking at that, the population would have been 1-1.1 billion instead of the official government stated 1.5 billion.

  13. i am singaporean who has served in our country's military. it is normal for infantry men like me to walk 20-30km to an objective in full battle order (backpack - 5 to 8 kg, helmet, webbing, magazines, grenades, water bottles, rifle). Total load is close to 20 kg. And this is done in Singapore's hot tropical climate. We call this walking "route marches". We do it in the early morning or late afternoon though. This chinese is doing the route march in winter so it should be easier for him. He is simply not physically fit. EDIT: Some of our infantry even have to carry Anti-Tank weapons like Matador or LAW which is an extra 10 -15 kg. Others carry the ammo for machine guns (extra 5-6 kg).

  31. Thank you Lei. Wu Jia Long's analysis is pretty good. The US is not involved up to its eyeballs in Ukraine or Israel, thus keep huge reserves available. In WW2, the US fought a 3 1/2 front war and won. To cripple China in a war, it would only need 2 Marine Expeditionary Units (Attack Aircraft Carrier Battle Groups) to shut down 80% of China's imports, including food, oil and energy. The US has 9 plus 11 Super Carrier Battle Groups. This was the strength Mr. Wu was referring to.

Your presentation really demonstrates that an autocratic and centralized economy can only grow on top of the backs of hard-working people. I feel for the Chinese people as they survive under such a corrupt system. I have seen videos of Chinese workers often not being paid salaries for months and then after their contract ends, their employers make only partial payments. How can these workers survive? I assume they continue working because they hope they will be paid something. These are terrible working conditions.
