Hello my Father was one of the Canadians who landed at Coursels Sur Mere (Mike One as it was known) and he told me only once what happened in the fighting in the area you covered in the documentary. He was in D Coy Winnipeg Rifles (the headquarters section) and could have been the Native soldier mentioned towards the end of the documentary. I believe that the Winnipeg Rifles held on to Puton en Bessin (sp?) at this point (I will stand corrected on this) as my father was a Native Canadian, and there were not many there at this time. Dad was wounded on June 15th and spent the next 4 weeks in the hospital, near the beach, and he then was transferred to the Lincoln & Welland Regiment who had just landed on July 7th, 1944. He suffered from PTSD, and ended up as an alcoholic (Native people should NEVER drink at all) and he passed in Feb 06th 1991' Your documentary was very good, and it matches the unit history books I have.
