  1. the immediate social effects of violent behaviour are a showcase for the observers (and listeners of the event thereafter) of the utilitarian use of violence to solve social disputes. It is up to the individual's social network that the cementing of that utilitarian use of violence gains root, the way it is discussed and idolized in some cases. At a certain point we can see how individual agency is shaped over time the the belief system built with the support of the social network around said individual. Like the saying goes, 'no man is an island' (although in criminal cases mens rea must still be observed; it is not by rooting out the causes of violence that one can detract from personal responsibility of one's actions). In other words, it is not the person per se, it is the culture.
