  1. I actually found out about you through the cuban missile crisis videos. I was doing a history project on the crisis and I cited you and those videos because... well, you're a real historian. And it beat reading some dry 300 page essay from some guy who thinks way too highly of himself. I actually had to watch the series a few times because the first time, I was so enthralled I forgot to take notes. Then as I was writing the essay I would wonder if there was something specific like... oh I don't know, the time, day and the people that were in a certain meeting. You had it. It was incredibly thorough. Don't think those awesome videos went unappreciated :) And you know what? They are so damn good I won't even mind watching them again with your refined production quality. I'll sit down and watch them just as enthusiastically as I did the first time. I love what you and your crew do. Thank you for bringing history to life and for fueling my addiction to learning

  5. At the 15:29 mark, Sparty mentions the preparations already underway in the US in 1940 for its inevitable involvement in the European war. My great-grandfather (then-LTC Edward H. Brooks) was awarded the Legion of Merit for his service as Chief of the Statistics Branch, War Department General Staff from 8 Sep 1939 to 8 Sep 1941, tracking and reporting to civilian leadership progress toward US military readiness goals. In fact, we have in our family one of the large charts that was used to brief Secretary of War Stimson and President Roosevelt about US military readiness goals. It is signed by his boss, George Marshall, with a quip that Stimson had once made, “When do we get the brown?” (The color brown was used on the chart to represent achievement of the targeted volume).

Interestingly enough, while I was watching these two parts of 1920, of course I was in awe to YOUR GREAT WORK, guys, and I got struck by this compulsive thought that all this great material and more than stunning approach should be made into something even bigger (which of course YOU would own), and then I scrolled a bit to get a glimps at the comments... and there it was! But for some, it feels like yesterday, the smells, sounds, attitudes and the anti Semitic message of hatred seen in every sight seen. The lessons from these atrocities must remain at the forefront, for this world is damned to repeat history should it be forgotten! For some, it was our fathers, grandfathers who fought these days we reminisce, with a heavy heart and endless tears flowing from my heart. These are the moments of my father's years of youth; of becoming a man. And manly decisions, life or death decisions, were made. He left me as a young girl, and more questions now than when he left, remain. But the snippets I have, I wish to know more. It's healing, it's cathartic, it is answering questions that, if even still alive, you don't have the guts to ask. Questions you SHOULDN'T ask because...you just SHOULD NOT ask! It as a respect thing with him, I suppose. But now the answers are coming. I get it. I get HIM. And I'm okay with it. I have a personal request, if possible. Or of anyone reading this. 507th PIR, 17th ABD US ARMY. That's my fathers unit. '44-'45 Ft Benning Paratrooper. What actions, specifically did they see? I've got all the paperwork available from archives...fire in '76 destroyed some records. Where can I find this into? Pictures, assignments, etc. Roster, Roll... I've done family genealogy and have military history before revolutionary war. I am proud of it, and would💜to know my father's unit history! A Happy New Year to each of you, viewers and vets! Strange that you mentioned that, my daughter is also growing up with you guys, we sit every Saturday in front of the screen and watch ww2, she still prefers Peppa pig but, buuuut she can hold still for a entire episode and her patients and the interest in the show grows. And she is only 2,5 years old. You guys do a great job and I am happy to support you.
