The one key biggest reason why corruption will always exist in the Russian Empire/Soviet Union/Russian Federation, is that the corruption there starts right at the very top, with Tsars, with the Soviet Leadership, with The Russian Presidents. Today that's Putin and he has instituted a vast system of institutional corruption that bleeds and infests from the highest office in the land, and that's why it corruption in Russia can never be eliminated.

  10. I was a humanitarian aid medic in Bakhmut early in the seige before being moved to Lysychansk. Bakhmut was a beautiful city. I saw NO military targets ANYWHERE in the city. The artillery rained down unendingly, killing and maiming innocent people faster than we could treat or evacuate them. It was a horrific tragedy. People say "why didn't they just leave right away?" Imagine being 85, living in the home your parents were born in, having never been more than 20 miles from home and having little money. The thought of leaving everything and going to another country is paralyzing. Their daughters stay to take care of them. Sons are fighting. This too is a horrific tragedy. P.S. I saw no Nazis anywhere and NOBODY wanted to be "liberated." That's all a lie. If you called someone in the Donbass a Russian, you'd eat your teeth. They are fierce patriots fighting to stem Russian expansion - which benefits us in the West.

  46. There's also the problem of Russia really not having any NCO's or unit autonomy. If things don't go to plan, they will just stop and try to use their shoddy comms to get new orders. In western militaries the troops are given a mission, taught to accomplish the objective and if they have to do things differently, bypass something, change the route, so be it as long as the goal is achieved. I was astounded by the early phone intercepts where it was clear that 90%+ of the troops had no formal orders other than drive to X,Y, or Z location, that was it.
