  11. The most interesting aspect of this discussion is the critical nature of the timeline and the 48 hr window to resolve this before western intervention becomes a reality. Look how long the build up to for Iraq was. This was not a lack of resolve but the reality of timing to get forces into theatre. However, even this 48 hr window is no guarantee, preparations for a full scale invasion would be on a scale fair beyond exercises and very visible so the question is what would the US and mainly Japan do in such a period seeing this happening. The other scenario not discussed is a blockade where China simply rings the island and dares Taiwan and the West to do anything about it. Once their military is at a certain capability this becomes a more effective option as it can be combined with a propaganda war and cyber attack. China’s attempts at undermining and dominating its political “opponents”, pretty much everyone, support such an approach.
