  2. Here’s an idea for your porch: screened porches are a popular addition to houses in the south. They’re great for watching storms, potted plants and placing muddy boots somewhere without being bothered by insects.

  7. I try not to be a "you should do this" type of commenter, but you might want to consider more insulation. Especially for Minnesota. Even though you'll be using the wood stove, more insulation will keep the heat in longer, especially over the cold nights when you're trying to sleep and not feeding the fire. Trust me from a wood stove owner in Manitoba.

  13. I redid an old shop with white metal. It really helped keep it a bit cooler in the summer. Looks great. There's nothing like knowing every inch of your house because you built it. One of the best, most satisfied feelings a man can have.
