The moment someone says that working hard is the way to success, he is either a hypocrite or has no grasp on economics. It is all about the value a person provides, that the market wants in exchange for money. Someone can dig holes by hand all day long, there is no value in it and hence there is no substantial pay. There is a limit to how hard someone can work and a man can put in 100 working hours in a week, but he cannot put in 200. Besides, sleeping is not time wasted. That's when the body regenerates, muscles grow and the brain flushes - both metaphorically and actually. The role of chance and luck in succeeding is much more dominant, than people realize, but the Western mentality is to be in control, which is laughably arrogant. To quote a great general - your goal is not to die for your country, but to make the enemy do it. Thus, to get rich you need hard work, but not your own - that of other people. As I said, you cannot put in more than 168 hours of your own, but you can put in thousands of times as much - that of other people. In conclusion - don't trust people, especially those pretending to help you. What is more plausible - they are looking to create independent competitors or dependent minions?

One aspect you missed is that the hussle culture is extremely ableist. As someone with debilitating mental health issues I've been sucked into this 'work hard to succeed' trap just like anyone else can be, except that when the inevitable burnout comes it can turn into crushing low self-worth, depression, and suicidal ideation. Those gurus love to preach that "anyone can do this! You just have to be passionate!" But there are certain conditions some people have that no matter how much passion they have, they simply cannot push themselves to the brink and survive, let alone thrive. This "push push push" mentality can and does actually break some people.
"Contrary to popular opinion, quitting is for winners.
Knowing when to quit, change direction, leave a toxic situation, demand more from life, give up on something that wasn't working and move on, is a very important skill that people who win at life all seem to have." ~unknown

If this channel was a stock, I'd put a lot of money in it. Wait, I'm still at wealth level = nothing. :-(
Also, here's my summary (I always summarize the videos I consider most useful):
• Check your beliefs about money.
○ Money is not bad, don't buy into that stereotype.
○ Studies: Most millionaires are self-made.
• Your equation ("money = salary from a job") is wrong:
○ How much u earn from ur job depends on the time u put in
- e. g. $20/h fulltime job -> 24 yrs to $1M (before expenses!)
○ Time = most precious resource -> that's a bad deal!
• Rules of the game in a capitalist society:
○ You're paid in proportion to your perceived value (= equation to wealth)
- The ppl that perceive ur value = the market (aka everyone)
- It's about supply & demand (think: utility/value, price, efficiency, excess/scarcity etc.)
- It's not about how hard u work, your passions etc.; the market doesn't give a fck
□ That's why e. g. celebrities are paid more than cleaners
- Pivotal question: How can I increase my (supply's) perceived value?
○ All money runs from this premise: If u want money, solve problems.
- Million-dollar problems -> million-dollar solutions etc.
- Always start w/ the problem: Listen to the market around u
- What do ppl say they dislike/wish existed/is inconvenient/frustrating etc.?
- Tip: Solving more/better problems @work = lever for a higher salary
• A problem worth solving
○ Scalability: solution needs to affect a magnitude of people
- e. g. physical yoga classes (job) -> online course (business)
○ Automation: systems/processes keep ur business running like a smooth machine
○ If it financially makes sense, outsource tasks or hire ppl to do it for you
○ Make sure your solution can be accessed by everyone in your market
• The reward (two paths):
○ Continue the business for whatever reason (e. g. stick w/ ur baby; add more value to it; runs passively in the background)
○ Cash in, e.g. eBay's acquisition of PayPal for $1,5B (ca. 10% -> Elon's pockets)
• What was it all for anyway?
○ It's not about the money itself (whose value is only backed up by our belief in it anyway)
○ It's about freedom -> ability to do what u want whenever u want w/o having to worry ("can I afford this?", "have I used up all my holidays this year?" etc.)
○ In the end, it's about the most valuable resource that we cannot rebuy: Time!
• Conclusion:
○ Stop chasing money. Chase problems. Find solutions. Build a business around it.
- Let solving problems be the meaningful struggle in your life!
○ Keep in mind: Most attempts will not succeed
- Fail fast & move on to the next thing

At age 22 I was homeless, addicted to various substances, and broke. At age 29, and after years of diving deep into "self help" and coupled with professional counseling, I now have a stable job with a very healthy salary, live in a wonderful community, and I'm married to the most amazing person to ever enter my life.
Let me clarify one important thing:
SELF HELP DOES NOT EQUAL POSITIVITY
You gotta be able to decide which speakers, books, podcasts ACTUALLY encourage growth vs. just blind optimism. And MOST importantly, you need to actually IMPLEMENT your new knowledge every day.
At the end of the day, you're going to be your biggest hero or your worst enemy, and learning how to improve various aspects of your mindset, health, and life is going to provide you with the best chance at attaining your goals.

This is so relatable. I wouldn't say that I've been hooked on self help purchases, frankly I'm a tight ass. I refuse to spend money on something I believe can be done for free, and there in lay the issue. I rode my own ass hard to burnout and achieved nothing and its a difficult habit to break. Like you with acting, I was in the exact same boat with my art career, and refused to accept the fact that it's okay to change, it's okay to give up on a dream if it's no longer your dream. Carrying on regardless, getting into debt, dreading waking up is mental suicide. Let me tell you, I quit art and self employment and now loving life, discovering new unexpected skills. Totally glad I tried it, but boy am I relieved of the burden that came with my "dream".
This is just a normal and healthy part of growing.
Thanks for such an inspiring video.

I couldn't agree more with the gap year point. However, it is not applicable for my country.
If you can not enter a uni right after you finish high school, you have to go to military for 18 months. I was very successful student, still didn't know what I want to study; but it is very hard to pass entrance exam after being a soldier for 18 months, so I went to the university: best university, one of the hottest degrees, but I absolutely hated it. It was not only because of avoiding military, but I would be called crazy if I chose going to military instead of university with the grades and scores I had.
After graduating university, you are given 2 choices: To serve in military for 12 months, or to go to study master's degree. I graduated last year, but thought that I am not emotionally or mentally fit to be a soldier, so I will go to study master's degree. I got a hype in my senior year that I love my degree so didn't mind doing masters; but right after I started master's it turned out to be false.
I will graduate from master's next year this time, and will have 2 choice: either to go to the military for 12 months, or to do a phd and be exempted from military service.
I won't do a phd in a subject which my hatred grows(btw, it is CS) just for the sake of avoiding military. I will do my service, and after that I will do something else, nothing IT related.
So, 7 years(1 year of english foundation included) of studying and spending tons of family money just for the sake of avoiding military, pleasing people around me and end result is that: I hate my profession and won't do it for living.
If I had a gap year, everything could be soo different.

I’ll have to be honest, I love how calm you are in your videos when talking about topics like these. You said in your latest video about gurus taking advantage of the dopamine rush in the self help industry...with your videos, even though I’ve learned to control my dopamine levels when I watch videos like you mentioned, I get a sense of being level with you, being able to easily learn from you, being comfortable with your topics that I know to be true - because of my own experience in this market.
I fell for the Click Funnels OFA challenge, AWOL Academy now known as Fullstaq Marketer, Tai Lopez, Dean Graziosi, Grant Cardone, Stephan and Tatiana James... just to name a few...
And what I’ve come to learn is how they mention “mindset is the first step...”
It surely is once you learn how these gurus get rich by selling their courses, taking advantage of the people who want a solution for their problems. I mean, it’s the ultimate marketing strategy that people are drawn in to.
I took a break and started watching channels like yours, Alex Becker, Josh Fluke, Humbled Trader, Rowena Tsai, Coffeezilla...and learning to piece together a different feeling towards my goals and what I really want in life. I’m now more content with what I’m doing, I’m not trying to learn from gurus anymore on how to take advantage of people and sell sell sell...I’m learning to control my dopamine levels when I consume new information in videos, I’m experiencing life for what it is, accepting my credit card debt and mistakes I made to rack up like I did, and creating a plan to conquer that debt and fulfill my dream of getting back into the military like I want to do.
I’m not mad at myself for any mistakes I’ve made in the past, for I have learned that they are experiences. I’m learning if I want to accomplish goals, I have to set systems to carry out those daily tasks I need to do that work for me. If I want to start my own YouTube channel, I’m going to talk about the real stuff people need to know.
I know this comment is a mouthful, but your channel is another to add to my list of people to learn from that I actually like. Thanks man!

Thanks Mate, I love your content! Somehow, your documentaries, and their sentiment, are exactly aligned with my way of thinking. I love the material, your comprehensive research and your delivery. Thank you, and keep up the good fight. I will back you fully if ever you need support with any of this! I'm not a rich man, maybe I should join a megachurch (jokes), but this is my way of saying thank you. Keep fighting the good fight brother, I know you were recently burnt out and I have been myself in the past, so I know the feeling. But you are truly good at your craft and if you keep it up, I see a long, illustrious and successful future for you, in whatever path you choose. The content you provide keeps people like me sane bro. So if ever you need to take a break, you take one, if ever you want to rant, have one. I'm by no means a social media person, but I am a consumer of content (like yours), so if you need to reach out, you just reach out to me, or any one of your subscribers mate.

I discovered "The Secret" in a 2007 Sunday afternoon. It spoke to me, as I am sure it spoke to a lot of other people.
Since then, I've "used" the LoA to manifest some things to happen, but there are a ton of other things that didn't happen as I wanted them to.
I spread out into other teachers, like Bob Proctor or Joe Vitale, and I obtained some of their products (some legally, others not so much). Eventually, I started to realize that it's just a way to move money.
For a few years now, I've managed to not get any product of theirs, despite still thinking that the LoA is a real thing, but for it to be a "law", it should be scientifically verified. And until now, that still hasn't happened.
I really liked this video, and can't wait for Part 2.

Hi James. This was a mixed emotions video. 100% agreed that you have to take that gap year to get to know yourself. But after that, you need to receive higher education - it doesn't need to be in a traditional university, as there is always the option of the Open University (at least in the UK). Higher education is not about the degree. Screw that degree. Higher education is about STRUCTURED knowledge. And your knowledge needs to be structured. Otherwise, it's bits and pieces - here and there. You know one or two things, but you are missing the foundations of the things you read or know about, plus another 10 things around the one or two things you know. It's exactly what all the fake gurus are also missing - almost all of them are college/university dropouts - and that's exactly what makes them fake; they don't really know what they teach - or even worse, what they teach is irrelevant or obsolete, by modern standards. Every marketing graduate can immediately tell that Grant Cardone is a failed 1960-style salesman, or that Tai Lopez is a classic con artist, selling nothing more than hope - just to name a few. That's why it's no secret that these guys only attract uneducated or poorly educated victims. So, if we were able to select to spend £30,000 on Grant Cardone 'University' or a traditional university, we would definetely go with the latter.

I’ve become interested in this topic after a close friend of mine recommended reading Napoleon Hill’s ‘Think and Grow Rich’ (1937) which many people credit as the birth of the financial self-help publishing industry. I’m still in the middle of reading it, but I’m struck by the religious rhetoric and very odd references to mysticism (reaching out with your subconscious mind to the ether to create changes in physical reality).
People like Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie, Norman Vincent Peale, prosperity gospel preachers, books like The Secret, The Celestine Prophecy, The Power of Positive Thinking, they build upon movements like New Thought, the Law of Attraction, New Age spirituality. There is an almost cult-like mentality that forms around this industry. It’s very bizarre and disconcerting. And that style of thinking propagates itself through more mainstream industries like the diet industry, online education, MLMs. And people continue to fall for this stuff.
Thank you for bringing attention to this subject in this video. If you’ve helped someone avoid personal financial ruin or destroying a valuable relationship, it’s all worth it.

Oh my god, thank you. Just thank you for this. Thank you so much.
When I believe in something, I give it everything I have. I shaped my thoughts, my actions, my words, I put away my time so that I could practice the law of attraction. I didn’t even notice how badly it was affecting me, how I got extremely frustrated at even a small negative feeling or thought, and eventually it was to the point where I was constantly suppressing my negative emotions and I was such a different person (and not in a good way). I ended up feeling even shittier despite all the positive thinking, I felt like my very emotions and thoughts were restricted and by myself at that and it was just so horrible that I would be filled with stress from the moment I woke up.
I found myself scared to remove those restrictions, because I believed so deeply that if I did I would attract horrible things into my life.
But eventually I just broke, and I realized that when I allowed myself to feel freely just like how everyone is supposed to I ended up much better off.
Every now and then I struggle because I have that small voice in the back if my head that tells me to “think correctly, feel correctly” as if thoughts and feelings had a certain standard to them that I had to measure up to. I try to remind myself to start living instead of living in my head too much.
Seeing this video brings up a lot of painful memories and a great deal of relief, I would really hate if someone went through what I had experienced. It’s only come to my knowledge now that people genuinely try to cure diseases using LOA and I agree that it’s very dangerous and very scary. I’m just grateful that I haven’t gotten to that extreme of a point because I could have and would have literally put my life at risk.

Dan Lok, the “King of High Ticket Sales”. I’ve watched him for years, always curious about what, exactly, he sold, since he never seemed to mention specifically what it was. Just a few months ago, Coffeezilla, a YoutTuber who shames fake gurus, pulled back the curtain on Mr. Lok, and then it all clicked for me: the wantrepreneurs he sells and upsells to, generally for over $2k per transaction, were the high-ticket sales all along. His customers aren’t rich and successful entrepreneurs; people like that wouldn’t take his advice for free, let alone pay anything for it, let alone pay significant sums for it. His customers are people who are stupid, desperate, or both, thinking that someone actually has a generic key to financial success and, improbable as that is, is then willing to share it with others for a few thousand dollars per person.

Aside from these amazing videos,
I'm just happy to hear that, all these amazing ideas, were made by you. You manually orchestrated this whole show and you manage to keep up the tabs in various social platforms, you manage to build a script or " blueprint " of your own, sketch your way on how you want to make it, literally spend hours and hours looking for the right sound effects, musics and what not, and at the end, thanking us for watching your art. From my point of view, we should be thanking you for making these amazing videos and the idea and the philosophy that revolves around it. You have inspired me the moment you talked about how money works and your videos kept me wondering where will you be heading because none of the videos are the same.
All and all, I just want to Express my humble gratitude to you for opening the eyes not just for me, but to all these people. We could have been indulging other documentaries about random issues regarding interesting points and conflicts, but you reached us out as a person, showing hand to hand about what is going on, and where are we going with this.
I just wanted to say thank you for that, from the bottom of my heart.
Love,
The Nice Guy
(I know my ID says funny but I am known as a Nice Guy)

Hey James, I enjoy your videos. However, i would suggest a couple ideas. Your channel name is "Fake Guruie" and i believe it would be better as your name "James Jani", keep the rest to the intro in your videos maybe? Also, instead of using copyrighted content, why not get some stock footage or, better yet, record your own(also some people animate "Kurzsesagt", so maybe thats something to get into). Anyways, thats just my constructive critique. Otherwise, your videos are well made and very pleasant to watch. EDIT: "James Jani's Documentaries" also sounds good for a channel name.

I used to be a hardcore believer of the Law of Attraction and followed the industry leaders especially the ones on Youtube (Aaron Doughty, Leeor Alexandra, Eric Ho, etc. )
After some time, I felt that whatever it was they were teaching weren't hitting the nail. Like how I've done this "2 cups method" (a ritual where you use cups to rid of your old life and come into your new life, supposedly helping you manifest your dream life) - and yet my life would never change at that time. Or how I would think positive, do this method or that and nothing will ever come out of it (a lot of those 'methods' were wack by the way, these youtubers would always use terms like "shift into your desired reality, jump into this or that dimension")
Things started getting weird when they started talking about being "Starseeds", saying that they've reincarnated from beings of different galaxies (Orion, Acturian, Pleiadian, and Draconian). All the while I was thinking, the fuck are they on?
What did it for me was when I discovered that what they're preaching and 'how' they're preaching are harming lives, like how one of Eric Ho's students lost $26k for his mentorship but gained nothing in the end (the video is on Coffeezilla's channel). Or how Leeor Alexandra and Aaron Doughty shared that they were "twin flames" - basically like a higher version of soul mates, they said that in the astro plane, they were one but when they came into the physical world, their feminine and masculine enegies split, yeah, all that wack only to end up breaking up. Their followers believe the same, of course, and I've been in their communities, I've seen them share about their toxic relationships and justifying that they can't possibly leave their partners because they believe she/he is their twin flame.
Today, I guess I still apply some principles of the Law of Attraction. I try to be positive when I can, but allow myself to be negative when I can't. Instead of visualizing, I talk more about what I want to achieve in life. I don't speak 'as if' it's already my present reality like what most LoA gurus teach because that would come out as conceited. Instead I speak with humility & honesty that this is what I want in life but I still don't have the tools or the right connection...hoping that eventually I'd chance somebody who does have those tools or connection. I would 'attract' what I desire in life knowing I would be more hyper aware of opportunities that would come (The Baader Meinhof phenomenon).
There are other practical and reasonable techniques that I use but it'd take a day talking about them. My point is, it's okay to believe (to a degree) in the Law of Attraction, as long as we're critical in our belief, and more importantly, of its preachers.
Great video as always, James.

fantastic video essay! 👌 these people are awful. I think Alex Becker is an exception, now that he has stopped selling all courses to beginners, said he now hates the "sell courses about how to make money" scheme, has called out these people, and gives very high quality information on his YT channel now - but we'll see, only time will sell if he has anything up his sleeve, haha - anyway, I subscribed, excited for your future videos, and if you have an email list, I will sign up because I know I can trust you...or can I? 😂💙

I love the video, it does speak some truth. But there is some misconceptions about this and I would just like to offer some counter arguments. Most of the people might seem to be doing this for the money. Yes there are, especially for the freedom. But there are definitely people doing this and actually making transformations to their clients that they are happy with. I have a passion with being a dating coach and online coaching is the best and most lucrative strategy for coaches and consultants. And even though you think it seems slimy when you market and use sales to bring people in, it's really a business responsibility to sell your product. It's not evil, when we think we have the cure to cancer and the only way for the medicine to work is if they spend money (value and time) in return for it.
You are more concerned with how they are earning money, but you aren't thinking about ROI (Return of Investment). How much do you actually value the information when you don't pay for it?
And there are many coaches that selectively choose their clients cause they want success stories and testimonials, not just money. Real results translate to real testimonials that translates to long term success in that field.
Why are we so afraid with money? How much money do you think you deserve? There are so many great coaches out there so it's not right to put all of them under the same umbrella. Products and online courses can help, but it provides 90% motivation but not real results. But if you have someone that is dedicated to your growth and bringing you along from one point to the other because you PAID them. Then everything is a win win. There is a balance we can strike here and I think it should be stated. I don't deny the amount of fake coaches out there but I dream of becoming one that strikes the balance of a sales entrepreneur and a relatable YouTuber.
Follow Real Social Dynamics. FOLLOW Owen Cook on YouTube and listen to his passion for teaching and sales and you might get a better understanding of their mentality, rather than painting them as selfish, get rich quick, slimy scammers that only care about your money. I hope I spark an interesting, balanced conversation about this. I watched the whole way and I still enjoyed the video :)

I like the videos on self-help and fake gurus, then I subscribed out of curiosity. My impression is your unbelievably intense pitch here sounds a lot like those but without selling stuff. The truth is the overwhelming majority of us don’t want to be in business for ourselves, we’re just not suited for that.
There is a book entitled “Your money or your life,” which I recommend. And it’s message isn’t perfect either, but it’s pretty much the opposite of this video. I trained for a high paying profession and invested my way to early retirement. You can work for others and achieve financial independence, I did. I’m not wealthy but I don’t need to ever work again for anybody, I have an above average income, and I’m debt free and I do what I want. There really are other ways to get where you want to go. I’ll unsubscribe now.
There’s nothing particularly wrong with this message and maybe something well under .001 percent of you will “make it,” whatever that means. But 99.999 percent of humans aren’t going to do this, and that’s fine. Here’s a little unsolicited advice, lower your expectations for what you want and expect out of life and learn to enjoy yourself without being uncommonly wealthy or brilliant, etc. Simple money management and the basics of finance, living on less than you earn, investing, saving, understanding the value of a dollar or British pound sterling will get you where you want to go. Try being a high income minimalist. Good luck to all of you - I wish you all well. And I hope all of you get whatever it is you’re looking for, I really do.

Thank you so much for this video, James! You tell it as it is. So many people are falling prey to this, spending SO much money, over many years, always hoping, paying, believing that NOW they’ll finally have their breakthrough. However, the real breakthroughs don‘t come from spending more and more money, but from stepping back and reflecting. As long as your “hooked” like an addict, your in no state the be your best self, the person able to achieve what you are meant to. Unfortunately, this marketing method has become SO lucrative and so widespread that it is like “the emperor’s new clothes” when you question it. Love how you nailed it!

Definitely, I agree with the content of this video,
However, for a Naive thinker, or someone struggling with Adulting who lacks the experience of self-care and awareness among them, as a beginner some of these might be helpful until they realize the point when all of this is becoming a loop.
I realized this after consuming a lot of self-help content from podcasts, youtube channels, at last, putting me into a loop of overwhelming emotions. The deal is to understand what is realistic, authentic, and practical as well as translating this content into practicality with intelligence which can be achieved after awareness of self.

"All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts" - wish I had watched this 10 years ago. Have been illusioned, disillusioned, reillusioned, medicated, meditated, drugged, sober, in the back of a police car driven to the hospital, drugged again, so I've seen this process play out many times and yet I still fall for it, now with YouTube and Think Media. I mean, it's something to do while I'm at my mom's house clawing my way out of debt one hour at a time, one boring work shift after another until I can retire from this self-help treadmill

Hi everyone, I have felt as James says, I have a journal since 2018 I think so, and I almost threw up when I realized I was in the same position the last year, almost no improvement, just hours and hours of business videos, then I knew that I was off track, actually im getting on track and I have some insights:
-Feel whole and complete, so people can not the "only missing piece you need in order to be successful"
-Define your goals, figure a path to get there, optimize your body, mind and emotions, figure out where are the priorities to work in order to accomplish your goals, work on it, get feedback, optimize and repeat, work for tha sake working is pointless
-Work more time mastering the basic things of accomplishing goals good habits related to your goals, discipline, responsibility, etc.
-Work on your mind, how far you go is based on your mentality
-Work on letting go or trascending your fears, because fear can be what holds you back from accomplishing your goals
-Get your body in shape, and get healthy, it will help you to accomplish so much if you have other necessary things in order
-Intrspection is important, also talking with yourself, literaly, talk with yourself, sometimes you have the answer, but havent taken time to listen to yourself
-Feel worthy, enough, important, and love yourself, I think this line is the most important, love yourself, feel proud of yourself and feel worthy, you dont have to earn it, just do it right now

This may be unpopular opinion, but I think this is just basic economics and psychology. I do think the gurus are over 'positive' with the things they post so sth like that, but I dont think its predatory, or at least some of them dont intend on preying on its consumers. There is a market for it, people want to see some positive messages, they are there to fulfill it. And following these 'gurus' wont just spiral you into addiction, healthy people can genuinely do with some positivity all the time. Writers also are just trying to put out genuine good advice. They dont intend to prey, they give out good advice, and there is a market for it and they get paid. Nothing about that its evil on their part. Problem is that the addiction to self help is extremely natural. And not inherently evil from the creators in the industry. After all they give genuine good advice (although they may be incomplete like in the video people misinterpreting working hard as blindly not giving up, but it's not the speakers fault they are answering questions and also with their elaborations cut in the video) and they get paid, so naturally they think oh people are getting help from me and its earning me money so I put out more content. The problem is the psychology of us. First natural thing about self help is people desperate and therefore very prone to make mistakes, like spiraling into addiction. Addiction is quite your own fault. You can get addicted to everything and anything. Plus self help isn't inherently designed to be addictive. A man gives good advice to you, he expects you to follow through his advice, not get an action faking dopamine kick out of it. Getting hooked by it is quite your doing. You can get hooked by cat videos, but you wont say these people filming cats are trying to get you to be addicted by them. This is the nature of addiction. Action faking and all that stuff is all in your brain, and they aren't necessarily taking advantage of it either. I'll try a comparison. Sth genuinely good for you, for my example the coughing drug (I'm taking liquid ones, which i heard can be quite addictive), is taken when you need help and can do with some improvement, in this case when you are sick, but the coughing drug ain't taking advantage of you isn't it. Doctors dont get you addicted to the coughing drug by targeting you when you are sick and coughing so you can get addicted to the drug and buy more. Same idea as the self help books and stuff, which contains content that HELPS. In the end it's the consumer getting addicted and it's his own fault. Yes, making mistakes and spiraling into addiction is given shitty circumstances extremely easy to happen to a person, but still it's the person's fault. Economics means self help has a lot of addicted people spending money and contributing to the industry, and a big and rich industry with high demand means a lot of supply of self help content. I think this video has a tiny bit bias tone with a little bit of demonization of the self help industry and the people producing self help content. The message and warnings are great, but the thing that is after these vulnerable people isn't these greedy suppliers, but their own psychology and the nature of addiction. But nevertheless good video. After watching this video and the fake guru video, I subbed.

Minor criticism, I'm South African so I understand a part about Elon Musk that most people that weren't born in the same country as him will never get. Elon was NEVER self made, neither was old Jeffie. But that's an easier one, let's focus on Elon. Elon comes from an elite part of society, in order to be a billionaire from South Africa, you have to be among some of the richest people ANYWHERE on this planet. The only other people that have that kinda money while being South African are the diamond mining guys and so on. The whole concept of being self made is a tough one. I don't consider people from highly educated and wealthy backgrounds self made.
That's not to take away from anyone that used wealth to create more. I agree with the premise of your video though bro I can't hate, dropped you a like. I just hate this whole mythical presence that a lot of people take on in modern society, Elon is one of them. The dude was never gonna be average, he was conditioned from a young age and comes from an ultra wealthy background, kinda like Trump. Regardless of anyone's view on him, he was never gonna be just another guy, he was primed his whole life to be successful, just like Elon.

This video really spoke to me, im 27 now and its been a year and a half since i spent money on a seminar. I was unhappy with my life and got addicted to the idea of "passive-income" and "financial freedom" and followed dozens of gurus. I spent over 20,000 dollars on seminars about forex trading, options trading, real estate and even amazon FBA. After all that, you are right, nothing had changed.
I read several self-help books but I feel the catalyst for me spending all that money was after reading the book Rich Dad: Poor Dad. Long story short, people who sell seminars feed of other big successful self-help books (wether the book is legit or not), in order to reinforce what you (think you) already know.
@James Jani thank you for making this video and shining a light on scammers in the industry and wish more people would see this. I feel like there are people who will not understand the video if they have not fallen for this trap themselves, but for anyone going through this themselves, hopefully this video can help, my advice would be to cut your losses and not to be too harsh to yourself.
