A perfect summary of the era, judged by someone who lived the entire era, me! I graduated university in 1968 and was as laser focused on events and their very real consequences on my life as I am today. This episode is indeed another tour de force. Bravo!

i give thunbs up the moment i hear the theme music. This is my comfort channel. π

Thank you, this was a lot of fun

Very informative and highly listenable. The reaction of Eugene McCarthy to being snubbed by LBJ for the vice-presidency reminded me of a certain former British PM, famous for the longest sulk in history, one Edward Heath.

Very well done! Congratulations from Austria

About time.

Thanks for this. John Dee is one of those mythic characters that make English history compelling. Like Scott of the Antarctic and King Arthur.
4
Brilliant! Historically, the 1960βs were not that long ago but it was a very different world in many respects. Explains the Trump phenomenon quite well.
4
Awesome. Brilliant content. Spot on. Well said.

A great format for youtube. Please keep the longer audio format going. I'm a recent convert to your podcasts and listen as I work on renovating our house. Up to podcast 104 so far, so few more to go. Still a lot of house to work on so keep them coming plz.

I was 11 years old in 68. Lifelong white male Alabamian. George Wallace is like my first memory of politics along with the JFK Assassination. I lived thru all of it. Good job.
4
Terribly entertaining, as usual :)
4
That was great, thank you. I was on the edge of my seat throughout, even though I know how it ends!
4
Great as usual, gentlemen.
4
Iβve already listened to all of this in the podcast but itβs worth repeating, itβs been a brilliant series. ππ

In an not so recent Documentary by the superb Rich Hall (they are all on Youtube and definitely worth watching) he speaks to one of MLKs friends who was with him on the balcony when the assassination occured. The Gentleman tells Rich Hall 'Sadly, you can kill the dreamer, but I hastily tell you, you cannot kill the dream.' That's always stuck with me.

My father in law wrote a book about John Dee. In Welsh.

Thank you so much for this episode. I'll need to search for your book on Eugene McCarthy ,Mr. Dominic. I had no idea about his private life & personality. It was very surprising. His former press secretary related that Sen. McCarthy was possibly involved in CIA type operations in Latin America. Perhaps you were already aware of that but again, I was quite surprised.

One of the most interesting crisis in world history and you two are doing a wonderful job covering it from all angles. I'm looking forward to your next episodes and will be revisiting these in the future.

Just great!

Thanks chaps. Who'd have thought that the Punic Wars might have been simply caused by a speech such as "We import three thirds of our cochineal dye. THAT IS A DISGRACE!!"
3
Fucking FINALLY.
