  35. If I hadn't been a vet on disability due to PTSD (and the wife's would-be objections) I would have gone to Ukraine after the revelation of what happened in Bucha. I trained Estonians in the mid to late 90s, and I developed a severe case of russophobia already back then, despite it not being a word yet. The horror stories these lads told me about what it was like to be an ethnic Estonian in an army where only Russians were allowed to reach officer ranks sent my blood boiling. What the Russians did in Chechnya (TWICE!) sent it boiling again. 2014 sent it boiling at steam pressure... and now there is no words in the dictionary that can describe my hatred and anger. I donate as much as I can (which ain't much on disability pension, but every penny counts!) directly to the fighting forces. I saw some absolutely nasty shit in ex-Yugoslavia. It was clearly personal to the sickos who carried out sadistic genocides on entire villages. I saw violence against women in Afghanistan on a systematic level that made me question if the human race will ever figure it out. But through all of it, despite many times feeling strong urges to just go vigilante and these animals, I took pride in not becoming the monster I set out to defeat.... But I am seriously questioning if I could have kept to that ethos had I gone to Ukraine. I'm not sure my human side would be stronger. I'm not at all religious, but sometimes religious expressions conveys the message the cleares: "The Russians should thank god, with all of their heart, that I'm no longer fit for fight, or they would have met the devil while they were still alive".
