The night I met my wife and took her and her girlfriend in my old 50 Ford for a drive, was the night I missed my meet with my buddies, that night they decided to relieve the country club of a case of Scotch. I met them after their 'jo' and they gave us a bottle to enjoy. That night, they got caught, all got a juvenile record, one who was 18 was arrested and given the choice, army or jail, he joined the navy for 4 years. I always said, if not for the love of a good woman I too would never have been able to do a career as a police officer and retire as the Chief of Police. Funny how life works. I sure do miss my lovely wife of 51 years and 4 days, cancer took her from me 3 years ago, not a second of a day goes by that I don't think of her love, and our wonderful life together.

Robert's mom is such a refeshing change from all the "my son can do no wrong" boy moms we're so used to seeing in cases like this. The phone call conversation at the end showed exactly what kind of people they both are. On one hand, Robert was still making excuses for himself and blaming Emily for his actions, saying things like, "oh she gets so hotheaded when she's drunk", which just shows that the only person he feels sorry for, is himself. On the other hand, his mother refused to entertain any of his BS and told him straight, "no excuses, whether she was hotheaded or not". What's more, she even reminded him that he was prone to violence even before Emily, citing his behaviour during his fights with his ex-wife. But really, the best part was her burns, "I don't know what I did wrong with you for you to turn out this way", "You'll have plenty of time to sleep now" 😂😂😂. I wish more mothers were like her...

I’m a true crime junkie, watched a lot of these videos, everything about Melissa’s demeanor, her confusion, her frustration, her sadness and her pain was the truest thing I’ve seen. As insane as the story was, I believed her! So glad these detectives did too! If they had been the slightest bit lazy and wanted to simply clear this case, how easy would it have been to just blame her and close the books on it. Hats off to them for never stopping until they got the whole truth. Dawn did this, that first interview was complete madness, when she started ranting, that sealed it for me and while she may have slipped the justice system… she couldn’t slip her own guilt, it clearly haunted her, ruined her and in the end she got the death penalty she deserved. Tragic story with a beautiful twist… two amazing girls got the Mom they deserved and she got their hearts in return! These stories rarely end with any happiness, thank you for sharing this! And shout out to James mom, too! She’s a real one, I hope she has been able to find some semblance of peace in her life. I can’t imagine her pain, the boy she loved and raised, did the unthinkable for an abusive, hateful woman that she couldn’t save him from. My heart hurts for her too. Great job! This is my first case with this channel, loved the approach, will be following!!

This case was a bit triggering. (At no fault to the creator/channel) I knew what I was getting myself into by watching it, but it takes me back to 2008 when I found out my former roommate had hung herself. I didn't think she did it to herself, I thought for sure the abusive boyfriend was involved. I still don't know if I fully believe that she did it. Back then, I was so tore up about the possibility of it being staged as self-inflicted, that I managed to get a meeting with a detective and express my concerns. The detective did everything in his power to convince me that I needed to accept the fact that she did it to herself; and he went on about the fact that in Suic*d* cases, friends and family always find it hard to accept. In 2017, I saw the guy who I thought might have been involved. He was working the drive-thru window at Dunkin Donuts. I was so panicked at the sight of him that I almost drove off without getting my credit card back. I couldn't even drive, my whole body was shaking.
On another note, I really hate the censorship of the S word. For the longest time, it was what I call a "whisper word". Words like Suic*** and Grape without the "g" are words that people whisper when they say them. Finally both words are being talked about more often, yet I can't even comment them because platform's suppress views of creators who have these words in their videos or comment section. Suic*** should be able to be talked about. The more talk about it, the more we can spread awareness and encourage people to get mental health treatment.
If I had not been so close to someone who ended their own life, I might have attempted to take my own at different points of my life that were just too tough to bear the pain. It is no longer an option for me. If one thing came out of her death, it's that my children and family don't have to ever go through the pain of losing me by Suic***.

Anytime a supposedly close person, family member, best friend, etc. Begins to talk about a victim in any negative light immediately after their death, especially one of such violence. I've found throughout the 100's of interrogations I've viewed that said person has been directly involved in their death. Not every time, but most of the time. The cousins opened remarks about the victim, although minor, it seemed out of place considering the circumstances.
"He's mouthy, talks a lot of crap" -
not verbatim. I picked up on it right away, and KNEW, he was involved. It's crazy how the human phsyci is individually different yet collectively when under extreme pressure we all react with the same 3 or 4 responses.

I don’t think it was to judge her. I think it was to highlight that she was a vulnerable person and Eric exploited her circumstances in making her a target (a lot of serial violent offenders target vulnerables: children, active substance users, former substance users, the disabled, homeless, the poor, and mentally unwell). A lot of substance abusers didnt have the chance to build a good resume, get good jobs, save money, etc, so many start off vulnerable and stay vulnerable for some time after getting clean as they rebuild their lives. It also highlights her will to go on and do better, which she was doing subsequent to drug abuse. It helps us recognize that a true spark l, fighting for life, was extinguished

I’m new to the channel. I just want to thank you for your excellent presentation of content. I love that you start with historical or locational context, proceed to explain events as they happened, provide raw footage of interviews as events unfold (interjecting occasionally with additional context but no editorializing or selective editing outside of for the sake of brevity as far as I can tell), then explain what resulted. You don’t focus on mysteries or unsolved cases (though I’ve loved seeing prolonged cases and when cases went cold then were resolved). In fact there is almost no mystery content beyond specific elements or motivations that are part of a larger story, and I like that you don’t speculate.
I’ve never been into true crime as entertainment, so most of these stories are new to me (I’ve only been familiar with one which happened in my community), but I see others appreciating that you focus on under reported stories. What that means to me is the sensational stories aren’t a priority as much as the execution of the delivery of the content. I don’t know if you would have any interest in generating this type of content, but I personally would be interested to see one or two examples of less severe crimes (by which I mean not homicide) presented in this format- but I understand that sourcing information for those cases would be significantly more difficult. Just a hope as a fan of the quality of your work.
I came across this channel when searching for examples of unrelenting dishonesty, compulsive dishonesty, compelled or highly incentivized dishonesty, manipulation tactics, and denial states. It occurred to me that police interviews and interrogations would be great source materials for examples of those behaviors and searched on YouTube and after sifting through worse examples found this channel which has been a treasure trove for examples presented factually without amateur or speculative analysis. I especially loved the presentation of the Oxley case which had examples of truthful rejection of evidence driven claims and dishonest rejection of evidence driven claims. The content can be heart breaking, but it has greatly advanced my study of behavior and psychology.
It has also increased my appreciation of police officers and law enforcement which I have previously vilified. It is easy to do when only the negative examples get widely reported in large media outlets (which is important because it is inexcusable and unacceptable) and due to the fact I live in a low crime area. This content is a great reminder that criminals are manipulative, frame themselves as victims (even though they victimize), present objectivity false narratives, and negatively impact the lives of several people. It has helped to see the types of behavior and types of character/personalities police officers have to frequently interact with and dissolved my unconscious, irrational prejudice. It of course also amplifies my disappointment and frustration with inadequate or corrupt police work as I better understand what is at stake.
This is very long for a YouTube comment, but it seemed the easiest way to communicate with you. Thanks again! I look forward to your future content as I continue my studies.

Apologies in advance for the lengthy comment...
My husband died in a car accident in 2013, the officers had a very hard time reaching me since we weren't allowed to have our phones on us as Pharmacy Technicians. They told me to come immediately to my father's home, which was next door to my friends house. The officers would not tell me anything over the phone, just to get to my dad's asap. It was only 10 minutes drive.
So, on the way there, I was racking my brain, wondering what happened. My elderly father? My neighbor? I passed my house on the way to make sure my husband was home so the kids were safe. His car wasn't in the driveway, so I'm thinking he went to get some dinner for the kids. I tried his cell to tell him I had been summoned to dads and I would be home soon, but it went straight to voicemail. I assumed his battery died. Continuing on driving to my father's place, I was in utter bewilderment....what in the world was going on?
When I arrived, four officers were there waiting for me. As I go inside, two officers wait outside. Dad took my hands and they told me to sit down. As they informed me, I was hysterical and blacking out at the same time. I was screaming, begging to know what happened, where he was, and more, but I don't remember what else I asked. I even drove to his parent's house with the officers following to let them know, and I do not even remember the drive there.
My life has never been the same. He was only 37. It was a violent accident. His seat belt broke and he was partially ejected, after multiple impacts. He was driving his work truck, an Izusu, which I call death traps. It's you, a steering wheel, a windshield, an engine. They wouldn't even let us see him afterwards, it was just too traumatic. Didn't matter to me, even seeing his hand would have been enough. I've never felt closure in 10 years.
Sorry this was so long, but I explained all this to compare to this fool. He acted like he was told his dog needed to be put to sleep. "Have a wonderful day!" WHAT!?!
I said a lot when I was in shock, but I sure didn't wish the officer a "wonderful day". Just wow. 🙄

I found this video, the set up, the interrogation, everything, as tragic as it is, a video that’s been exceptionally well put together. I just watched the dateline episode of this murder. There’s a few things mentioned in DL, not mentioned here, although I must say you get a better experience of the whole tragic incident (IMO) by watching this video. A few things I found out in the dateline version is - the father knew all along it was Bryce. Also, Bryce chewed tobacco. At the murder scene, LE found not only the condom, and other evidence against Bryce, but they also found his spit out tobacco. Another thing is the last picture that Brittany took of her and Bryce in the truck was a huge clue to LE because it was at the location where the murder took place and they could identify this through the SKYLINE & background of the mountain range. Very sad case.

As a true crime fan and a divorce lawyer, the first suspect is always the spouse. At first it seemed odd that Melissa was as calm and pulled together. I could see a good argument for her being the killer, as well as a good argument against, but without knowing her, it's hard to tell what her 'normal' is. Then, after hearing that Dawn, the ex-wife, had just lost custody, suddenly, Dawn became the suspect. A 'tell' was that Dawn kept referring to Alyss as "my" daughter and the fact that she was upset about Alyssa calling her stepmom, "mom." She definitely had a lot of anger toward her ex. Her conversation with the detective about Ben was so cold. Dawn alienated Ben's other children from him. That is the same kind of hate that kills people. Lots of motives--not having to pay support, getting social security. Having seen how people react in custody battles, it doesn't surprise me that Dawn was the mastermind. When I was little (back in the 1960s), all the villains looked and acted like villains. Now we know that villains are everyday people and you can't tell from looking at someone whether they're a killer, especially if they're good at gaslighting and deception.

There's a real "Leopold and Loeb" vibe going on here.... a guy that thinks, in his own mind, that he's carried out the perfect crime, but has drastically overestimated his own intelligence! He's committed the crime with absolutely NO apparent understanding of technology, forensic science, police investigative techniques, etc., etc!!
It's so damn embarrassing watching someone rattle off numerous lies & denials with such confidence, while sitting 6" away from someone else who's staring at them while already knowing for a FACT that he's guilty as all hell!
I often wonder why they keep up the facade for ssooooo long in the face of overwhelming evidence against them. I imagine everyone has that imaginary line in their head that, once crossed, will finally come clean. For some that line is crossed in like the first couple of minutes of an interrogation, while others have likely been in prison for 40 years and still haven't come close to that line yet! It's always fascinating to learn where that line is and how long it'll take for them to reach it in each of these true crime/interrogation videos!!

One dumb cop!!!! All I know is that if you are on the wrong side of the shotgun when it goes off, you ain't hearing anything except ringing in your ears for at least a few to maybe even 5 seconds, long enough for someone trying to get out of there quickly and quietly to be long gone before she could regain her senses. I also can imagine, being asleep and completely unprepared for the shot, at super close range, ( I'm guessing its a 12 Guage), her ears probably actually physically hurt!!! Not to mention the shock she must have been in, by being awoken by such a violently loud noise! Im no doctor, but she has to be suffering from shock, or ptsd, or something after what she went through.

She was a beautiful looking young girl
Can’t make out why he killed her if she was as close to him as he said she was totally animal to leave her like that in the middle of nowhere with her clothes down like that,,
I mean he totally treated her like a piece of rubbish then dragged her dead body and put a sheet of plastic over her body just dumped her in the most cruelest of ways,,
He said she was going with a lot of boys which I don’t believe whatsoever
And if she was easygoing why did he have to take her life in such a horrible way,,
His first interview with police he acted like he was concerned about her only thing is he killed her and tried to act like a Good Samaritan or a good person but police are not stupid
For the likes of him,,
Her poor mother couldn’t sit in her seat when the cop told her that totally got to me poor woman,,
Rest in peace Britney ,,

Sorry, Spoiler Alert!
Wait! So let me get this straight, Dawn "all the sudden," found her moral compass 2 yrs after the fact while in the interrogation room while admitting she'd been intimate with James, yet she had zero morals while she was drawing the diagram of the house where her young, innocent little girl was sleeping along with, her father, Ben & step mother, Melissa (who is so good to her step daughter that she calls her step mom "mom.") Her daughter heard her bio mom at the door that night (the foor squeaked.) The trauma & PTSD she left for her own daughter to witness is deplorable. She was responsible for stealing her childhood, peace & security that night.
She was so spiteful, vindictive & jealous of Melissa & Ben bc Ben treated Melissa with the respect she gave to him. It's so crystal clear why the judge awarded custody to Ben & Melissa. Family court is no joke & they see it all, that judge was no dummy! It's extremely difficult to take full custody away from a stable mother & award the father. She had no one, but herself to be enraged at! Atleast James came forward & confessed, Dawn did not & her little girl now knows she was at her door that night. Bet it's pretty hot where Dawn is now. You did a great job on this. I'm impressed. New sub.

So this is my perception after seeing Dawn (ex-wife’s) first, interview/interrogation…
Holy WoW…so the Ex-wife, Dawn, seduces a 20 yro just so she could manipulate him into killing her ex, so she doesn’t have to pay child support for her precious daughter, that she didn’t even want to ‘take care’ of in the first place!
Grr!
She’s So Full Of Manipulative BS!
Great act she’s been playing.
If she had nothing to do with it, why wouldn’t she automatically tell the police, that would of took the kid right out of her house or even around her. So what would/could she be afraid of.
Now she cries about her daughter, even though she admitted that she had 3 children, so it wasn’t a big deal that Ben got custody of the girl cause she couldn’t handle taking care of them all being a single parent of 3. And she thought Melissa was Great with her daughter. And it was All Good!
UNTIL… she had to pay support. Then she cared ‘So Much’ about her daughter, ?now? Ugh such BS
Then even her other children totally Hate Ben with every part of themselves, for putting HER through all that he did. Cause Yeah, nothing is Her fault, in any of this (nor their marital problems) what went on in the child custody courts, yada yada… everything I imagine (narcissistic traits)
Wrong…
She’s beyond manipulative.
She wanted him GONE (she made a plan) she manipulated a young guy, that She Knew, that he would DO This For Her, because he was ‘In Love’ with Her. Period. She made a plan and played it out, going as far as sexually seducing this guy. She Knew Exactly what was going to happen from day one, I have no doubt, she planned this long before this guy even got out of his prison sentence. She started talking to him on the phone, while he was IN.
Then literally gave him the plans of… (lay out of…) Bens house, brought him around to buy all the materials to DO the dirty deed, even paying for it all.
Truly Disgustingwomen!
He Did the Deed!
But…
SHE (Dawn) played him like a fiddle, like she knew she could, and well here we are, Ben is dead, and of course, she still tries to play the ‘victim’ card. Cause with narcissists, nothing is ever their fault, nor nothing they have done have has caused any of their problems… just typical bs!

Her mother's cry, her soul tearing out of her body, that reached deep inside me too. I lost my daughter. I faced it alone. It is so visceral, you have no control over your body, your knees collapse, and you want to die too. You lose the will to live. No one can comfort you. That baby that grew inside you, that you know so intimately, that you breastfed, and held close to your heart, that was inside you, it is really a piece of you. For that piece to die such an untimely death is more than the mind can handle.
I feel for police and detectives that find dead people, dead kids, and have to tell collapsing parents. How do they deal with it day after day? Always have respect for police, firemen, EMT, doctors, nurses, vets, as they deal with death and grief daily and it is such a toll on their hearts.
This poor mother. I wish I could reach inside her and heal her broken heart. It is shattered. It will never be the same. Your child haunts you till you die too.
That miserable monster who did this. Everyone trusted him. I have no words. I hope he gets the DP. Pathological liar.
You did a very good job of showing photos, and detailing all stages, with final conclusion. One of the best crime videos. Thank you.

What an absolute monster..
Claiming to be worried about Gabriella, going on searches for her knowing he raped and killed her.
And if he loved her so much, why did he leave her like that, as if she was just trash.
I cant wrap my head around this..
And i thank God im not a detective, cause i wouldnt be able to control myself.
Im so sorry for what her family had to go through, and still are.. and also for her friends and those who cared for her.
I know im just a guy watching a video on youtube, but still she had her whole life ahead of her, and didnt deserve to have it end the way it did.
How can a 17/18yr old boy.. a kid actually sit on something like this.
Act like he's just as confused and hurt by the news as anyone else was...
And the part where her mother breaks down, aww man that got to me.
I'd better stop, bc im about to write something i'll get banned by youtube for writing.
Its kinda funny though, Bryce's last name is Dickey, well... where he's going he would probably get in contact with a lot of them.

i believe the 96-year-old lady was probably the first, but there is no doubt he had far more sinister thoughts of, and or intentions going into it. That was an easy "justifiable excuse", in his eyes, to see what it was like. Then he was hooked, stone cool murderer, addicted to it. Pure evil, just after the thrill, no thoughts for the victims, but whats new.
Great video, put together well and informative.

You said, if nothing was stolen why was she killed, my question is,…if nothing was stolen why would the “supposed “ hitchhiker have killed her, cuz I’m already very suspicious about this hitchhiker story.. that level of rage is very personal. A burglar has different motives and a murder like this isn’t one of them! 2:40
Oops! My initial response I guess was wrong but I thought the same thing as the detectives, his story seemed suspicious, what are the odds of the mystery hitchhiker coincidentally going to his house, let alone even finding his house from where they struggled with the screwdriver. It’s not impossible but it extremely unlikely so I can’t fault the detectives , it would be hypocritical for me to blame the flops when I can to the same conclusion. I apologize! 5:26 BTW, how is he going to hire someone when he’s struggling financially, I disagree with the cops about that theory. I’m more inclined to believe his original story now that the bloody hand print doesn’t match. It lends credence to his story and definitely deserves further investigation at the very least.
The thought of convicting an innocent man is the worst miscarriage of justice there is.

Binging your channel, this video was as great as your other stuff! If you open up for memberships etc, I'll be signing up! 👍
I hope (and think) this channel will grow, as it has by far the best, most original, most suspenseful True Crime videos. Very considerate to the victims and their families, while at the same time somewhat humanizing everyone in the cases (as far as possible..) You do a great job explaining the investigations - I'm not going to say this should be on Amazon or Netflix, since your documentaries are much better than their fancy high budget nonsense.. This is what YouTube was made for!
Most criminals aren't "monsters", it's often bad ideas or situations leading to horrible endings; the sentences in this case seem pretty appropriate for each of the 3 perpetrators. (Some people, like the guy in another of your videos, who killed his 16 y.o. friend, are just inhuman, but your "showing not telling" is much better than the channels that declares everyone always either perfect or the devil incarnate.) And it's all stuff I've not seen or heard of before (even the somewhat older cases).
I hope you keep this up, glad I found this channel! ❤

That was the perfect true crime upload.
Just a ridiculous murder plot, with infidelity , double crossing and lies...
A full Sherri Papini style bullshit story to the Detectives, complete with theatrical tears, followed by,
Police GOTCHA's, and a marvellous execution of the Reid technique ("we know you did kill him, but it was self defense, riiiiight...??" sorta thing..),
Followed by full COME UPPANCE!
A true crime video without come uppance is one I don't ever want to watch! ("There's Something About Cassie" much...?!)
And the sweet justice of her getting life, while STILL sticking to her lies,
while he gets a modicum of redemption, with 25 years, while 'fessing up to his crimes.
Also, the forgiveness of the Pastor was a sweet touch – (while still, rightfully, getting his 25).
Other highlights were her sending him Bible verses to manipulate him to take the fall for him... but then leaving him like a bag of shit! And him catching on, and deciding to testify against her over it! 😂
And finally, her outfit choice of braids and a fkn teddy bear, to deliver her performance at the cop shop!
Everybody saw her coming from a miiiiiiiiiiile off ! 🤣

I already got two Ekster's, and I could care less about the company itself or the promo, but if your still using a bill fold or something like it, definitely get one, and skip ridge, it's more with less selection and the Ekster's might even be a bit more like finished better, maybe a bit more quality control probably, but their selection is extensive, so they got the one for everyone, even had one my mom loves ditching her coach zip up.....but yea what a freaking amazing product. Just makes a tri or bifold idiotic to still own, after carrying one for 20 years straight, what a great reinvention of the wallet 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

Always amazes me how these "parents" act so indignant about someone questioning if they are a good parent, leaving them to proclaim how great of a person they are, how great of parent they are, how they will never hurt their children, and they think about their children first etc. Yet, they are PLANNING A MURDER. and not just any murder but the murder of the other parent. The one person that their child needs. The one person that will hurt the child most to lose, changing their lives forever. Therefore, in the end, leaving them with no parents. The enthusiastic proclamation of being a good parent while actively taking another person's life by choice, is just mind-boggling. The audacity is stunning and sickening. God, I hope his parents' got custody after this, that way it makes it just poetic.
