  14. When I was 22, I moved out of my VA town with $500 in my pocket to Florida. Everybody, friends, family, etc. told me not to. 2 years later I took out loans and went to film school, once again against everybody’s advice. 10 years ago I once again packed a car and drove out to Los Angeles, where once again mom and siblings tried to tell me I wouldn’t make it. I made it just fine ( not without struggles, of course) but I did fine. I met my wife, changed careers had a son and still fine.

  20. I’m 24 years old, 25 in a few months, and I relate to a lot of what you are saying. Almost everything that you said actually. Although I did graduate from college, all I have been left with is an enormous hollow void and no desire to fill it. I don’t contribute to society and I had resigned myself to ending my life a few months back. I would immediately ask you on a date or something despite the things you go through because I’ve been through it myself and I don’t see it as an issue. It’s more of a symptom of society hurting us just for being ourselves. I have also had dreams of raising children, despite being a virgin, and despite knowing that it will take an immense amount of work to become self-sufficient. I’m not sure when things will get better for us, but it’s bound to happen eventually.

  42. Life is cruel and life is unfair. For some reason especially to good people. I wanted a child and was so ready to have one. I ended up dating a girl for two years that I did have a child with. Unfortunately, she decided two thirds of the way through she didn’t want a baby and put our son up for adoption. I ended up breaking up with her a month before he was born because she punched my mother and then broke my windshield. Since we weren’t married there was little I could do to stop the adoption. I still tried anyway. I spent forty thousand dollars and nine months trying to stop it. All for a judge to say I lose my rights because I couldn’t prove I supported my ex.  It makes me really upset to see a woman like yourself who wants a child so badly then someone like my ex who at 28 years old had the chance and throws it all away. The only solace I have however is that my ex really isn’t well mentally and probably would have been abusive. So maybe it was for the best. It sucks though. I really wanted my son and would have gladly raised him myself. I don’t even get to be in his life now because the adoptive family is mad that I fought them. I can’t even get a photo.

  48. I'm 31, unemployed, live at home and just like you I get emotional about the thought that I should be working. Last year I tried so hard to get out and about and be better but it's so hard. I'm utterly alone and just like you want therapy but can't afford it and worry it won't work and I'll lose what money I have. My house was rigid and I couldn't really be outgoing, I learned no social things as my parents are quiet. I totally totally understand exactly how you feel and I hate that I do.
