They'll be thrilled to talk to you about their country, language and history and we welcome you if you come to us with a sincere interest. What people don't like is when Americans just blatantly claim to be something they are not, and then go on to speak on behalf of, or in the name of a community they are not actually a part of. It also doesn't help that the things those people say "as someone who's Irish" or "as an Italian" usually range from the utterly ridiculous to the downright offensive.

  33. 3:36 the glass is not a solid sheet of glass. It's actually 2 sheets of glass (sometimes 3) separated by air or an inert gas. Creating an "air cushion" between sheets of glass is way more energy effective that installing a thick (and excessively heavy) sheet of glass, because the air in between improves insolation.

I recently watched another 'American tries food' video on YouTube (a pair of an adult man and woman) and after cracking the egg the man watched the plastic capsule for a while and encouraged by his spouse he tried to bite into it because they legitly thought it was edible... After this, I really understood why Kinder is banned in the States. If even some adults cannot discern plastic and try so hard as to leave bite marks on it then Kinder is absolutely a choking hazard for some of your fellow countrymen...

  36. When a friend from America visited me in Germany I also took him to a rally. He was just used to Nascar so when we went unto the forest he was like "this is a weird place to build a racetrack" assuming there would be an arena or something build in there. When the first car whizzed by at break neck speeds on the gravel road he was shocked, amazed and in love at the same time.

  38. One of the absolute biggest advantages for F1 cars that gets overlooked a lot is not necessarily how fast they go, but how fast they stop. Braking on F1 cars is absolute insanity, they can do much better lap times on many tracks simply because they can brake much later before turns while maintaining control than most other race cars, and then get back up to pace fast.

  41. I was a Taxi Driver. I picked up a passenger from the Airport who had just flown in from California. As we were driving to the hotel, he was looking out the window and turned to me to say, "Gee, you guys sure have imported a lot of Eucalypts." Caught by surprise, I replied, "What do you mean?" He gestured expansively out the window at the bushland we were driving through, and explained to me as if I were a little slow, "All these trees are Eucalypts. They are from California, where I am from. You guys sure must have imported a lot to have so many!" I just about had a brain aneurysm trying to process this thought, and all I managed was "Um, they are native to Australia..." He just gave me a pitying look, shook his head sadly at my ignorance, and stated, quite authoritatively, "No, I think you will find they are from California!" I let the confusion clear from my face, smiled and said simply, "Oh, I guess we must have imported all the Koalas also." Again he shook his head pityingly and said, slowly, talking to the obvious simpleton I am, "No, those are native to Australia." "Oh," I said, confused again, "Given they eat only Eucalypt leaves, they must have been very relieved when we imported so many to save them from starvation..." He looked a little confused, and said "No, they eat Gum leaves." "Mate," II replied, "Gums ARE Eucalypts. They and Koalas are native, the seeds were taken from Ballarat and Bendigo to California during the '49 Gold Rush, and that is how you ended up with Eucalypts in the USA!" He absorbed this for a while, all sorts of emotions playing over his face as he reassessed his entire existence, then he turned to me and said "Was Australia already settled in 1849?" I gave up... 🤦‍♂️

  45. I’m Irish and have visited the US a few times. One time me and a couple of friends were in a store in NYC and were chatting. This older woman (I’m only taking like 50’s) came up to us and asked where we’re from so I said Galway, Ireland. I’ll never forget the next thing she said to me. “Wow, your English is really good.” To which I replied: “thanks, yours too” and smiled. She looked so confused for a solid 5 or 6 seconds before informing me that: “of course it is because she’s from America”, so I said something like “aye, and I’m from Ireland where we’ve spoken English for longer than your country’s existed” and carried on shopping 😂
