  2. Kind of makes me mad/sad. There’s a powerful scene in Sayonara Movie where this GI guys Japanese wife wants this surgery to “fit in” and he gets so angry, sad, and confused about it and this kind of stuff reminds me of it. I’m sorry this is just so upsetting. Asian eyes are so beautiful.

  4. I'm glad that they have grown up happily in Japan. Japan is still less melting pot than some other countries but I would like Japan to be more friendly to any races and foreign people!   7. I am an American and my country is almost no better. The birth rate is not the problem, the problem is mostly the lack of responsibility and the financial resources are unbeatable and the leaders of my country are completely out of touch with what people truly need when comes to being independent. Had it not been for my girlfriend and the resources she has blessed me with, I would have been like many people in your country for different reasons, especially the feelings of shame.

  12. AI might not become the best girlfriend/boyfriend, but it can certainly be a great therapist or even soulmate... And sometimes that is all a depressing/lonely person need before commiting something horrible to himself/herself or the people around him/her. Espeically in a high stress environment like large cities imo.

  17. This is sad. I understand if a parent flees with their child if the other parent is abusive. But to blatantly lie to your child, take them to another country, telling them their other parent was crazy just to have the abducting parent to be abusive. I feel so sorry for kids that go through this. This is absolutely crazy that no one bats an eye. You have to be extremely cold hearted to do this to a child and the parent left behind

  19. Put quite simply: whenever I was bullied as a kid - I was told to hit them back harder. Thus the only reason I had so many "bullies" is because none of them dared to do it more then once - the consequence of the first time was enough.

I'm anti social at the best of times and when I got married my husband said I could quit working and just be a housewife so I did. and then I didn't leave the house for 6 months. I ordered groceries, did all the cooking and laundry and chores I just choose not to socialize with anyone except my husband or leave the house. and I found it was getting harder and harder to socialize at family gatherings when I was home all the time. I just feel zero need to socialize with anyone besides my husband. but I knew that wasn't healthy so I went back to work part time and I am doing much better! I am an in home geriatric nurse so it brings me a lot of personal fulfillment. nothing gets you out of your own head and teaches you to appreciate everything you have like helping those less fortunate than yourself

  22. Just a point about Japanese students referring to Americans in America as foreigners. I taught a large number of Chinese students in Canada and the same thing happened- I was referred to as a foreigner in my own country. Just something to consider.

  25. He is very relatable, and as Japanese audiences get more used to foreign content may understand the intricate humor. To smoothen the barrier he also picks on himself a lot. I bet everyone respect Chris for pushing himself outside his comfort zone. To me, he seems like an introverted person with a lot of "guts" (pun intended) but he still gets into social settings and he is very well-mannered and witty, so he get along with anyone. He's one of those people who you will be friends with for the rest of your life, and I think people from anywhere pick up on that :)

  29. nothing is true and nothing is a lie it all depends on the color of the glass you use to see through. All these people they think the know japanese behavior but they don't, a small minority might be racist, but 90% is cultural behavior. almost 10 years living in japan, working among japanese, just my first year I had that mind set.

  31. I think in South Korea, if you grow up here, it may be similar, but if you live and work here as an adult, you will always be a foreigner. Obviously if you make an effort to learn the language, and respect the culture it helps, but you are still always a foreigner. I actually dress like a Korean, and often wear hats, because I am small, have brown hair, and can blend in. Koreans do stare, but it seems they are curious, as especially in more rural areas, we are less common. I think many Koreans also feel pressure to speak English to foreigners, which is strange, because we should be the ones learning Korea, so they often fear social interactions with foreigners. They may also be worried about offending us, because they are not familiar with our culture, but if a Westerner is familiar with Korean culture, it is not so easy to get offended.

  32. Thanks for the video. This has made me realize a lots of things. In some sense, conventionally women were the ones with these more complicated "not so clear" actions. And that is why there is famous phrase from men saying "women are a mystery". But Japanese culture has kind of lead to men doing similar things as well. And in return, this has left Japanese women fustrated with "herbivorous men".

Although I'm not Japanese, my parents did live (and technically still live) in a loveless marriage, and, like many people in the video, they said the reason was me. However, in my country, both parents have to provide financially for their children until they turn 18, so I never bought the financial argument, and I was also wondering if in Japan parents are not obliged by law to help their kids until a certain age.

  37. Thank you for making this video, Nobita. I used to stutter as a child, and having asthma didn't make it easier. Speech therapy helped a lot. What worked for me was not caring about others' opinions of me. Slowing down and speaking more deliberately also helped. I still occasionally stutter as an adult, but it's very rare. Again, thank you for bringing this often overlooked issue to light. Keep up the great work, Nobita.

  38. I usually have a lot to say on your videos but this one has me speechless. It's heartbreaking when a child is separated from one of his or her parent(s) and depending on the reason it really shows how much it hurts the child. Also, I find it truly sick whenever a "parent" says their life was ruined in some way cuz of their child's existence. Their actions led up to the child's existence yet there's some who think its right to blame the child. Thanks for the video TJR

  42. I think a keyword for dating is 個人的に向き合うこと or facing your prospective partner as an individual. Assuming this or that going into a prospective relationship, or writing off/pursuing relationships based on assumptions about the perceived cultural background of another is just setting yourself up for disaster or cutting yourself off from good potential relationships. As a person who doesn't fit most of the assumptons a Japanese person might have about generic "white people" and who has no interest in dating a person whose personality easily slids into some sort of box, naturally or as an affect of who they think they ought to be, I think the world of relationships would be better if people graduated this type of thinking.

I relate so much to Nana explaining her uncertainty of having children due to her mental instability...that realisation only came to me because I myself was raised by a mother with undiagnosed mental disorders, resulting in long-lasting damage on my mental state. It makes me wonder if she had experienced something similar.
