  45. Being Alaskan we are “red” due to the amount of military serving that come into are state and they are from many red states and they are allowed to vote in this state as soon as they arrive. Being once a former military family, we get that. We are both retired from the union. This state has more voters that are not registered to any party. We have a MAGA government who is the cause of most of our woes as does more damage to this state that amazing he keeps being voted into office, simply like Trump many of his supporters ignore the policies he has made into laws. The Governor doe not look into the future, he just cuts costs to anything he can. Girdwood, a great place in the day to ski has been taken over by outside business interests to make into a resort for the high end elite. I can’t afford to ski there anymore. Unfortunately Alaska has been taken over by the out of state grifters who control all are big economic drivers. Resource extraction oil, gas and minerals. Fishing, tourists industry. Foreign banks in the state lend money to these business’s . I attended some Fish & Game meetings from the state and most of the people who come to speak on the issues are from out of state. Always the big issue in the many decades I live in is the fact that Alaska has abundant resources but we have no way to produce them to on our own we do not have the ability to create the production of them. We are lacking in the knowledge, the tools, and the fact that our airports are not fit be able to ship much produced in this state out we are stuck with them. Unless we as Alaskans in this state have the real power to develop the resources we are blessed are stuck with the grifters and big corporations. I find once working back over 40 years ago in the administration of a GOP governor that what we do in the state legislator is so different today. Many issues like the oil money dwindling into the state that we knew about for decades was prepared for this economic downturn at all. The legislator just kept kicking the can down the road and here we are are, No Governor or state legislator as in the last decades are fearful of taking financial matters to raise money to run the state by doing things are not not popular like a state income tax or a state sales tax. The government basically won’t go there if they want to stay in office. Nothing will change unless we find a different state leaders who have tried to balance our economic needs by they did get voted out of office. So all the whining how the state is run, is just that whining, but never much action.

  57. Many of you top commenters are committing a grave error. This channel is named "More Perfect Union," not "Videos For People Who Think They're Immune To Propaganda To Laugh At And Feel Superior." You don't need to make fun of these people. You need to hear them out, and really listen, not just wait for your turn to talk so you can call them stupid. The thing in us that wants to have the last word and shut others down is toxic, and when we indulge it, our interlocutors can tell that's what we're doing, and they will respond in kind, and then there is no conversation. If it's not a conversation, then they aren't listening to you, just like you aren't listening to them, so the whole exercise was pointless. Worse than that, it made all participants dig their heels in deeper. Yes, of course these folks have some strange ideas, unacknowledged biases, are heavily influenced by propaganda, and so on. That's pretty typical, not just of Republicans and red-leaning independents, but of Democrats and typical liberals, and especially those who consider themselves "moderates" or "centrists." Bipartisan-supported genocides prove that well enough. When we need to reach these folks, we need to make it a conversation between a "you and me," not "you and your party and me and mine," nor a ganging-up, intervention style, leaving them feeling surrounded. Many of us in the comments of this channel's videos know that the parties available are garbage. The thing is, a lot of these folks know it, too. There is a way to use that to build a bridge to some place where we can talk about us using the parties as a vehicle to serve our interests and the interests of real people who want to coexist in peace and freedom together, not be used by the parties to serve the interests of their donors. I'm not saying it's easy. I can't talk to my father about ANYTHING. I tried to explain to him that his side (that's not what I called them, in the moment; that would have been a big mistake) are targeting people like me for political violence (hi, I'm trans). Instead of, I don't know, offering some kind of comfort to his only surviving child, he immediately swerved into "oh yeah well what about THE LEFT," and a bunch of stuff about "open borders" and "burning cities" and "murdering babies." Something is wrong there, inside him, and I thing that claiming to fully understand it is a mistake. It is a mistake that he makes all the time with regard to understanding those different from him. That is: he doesn't seek to uncover the truth, but to bury the cognitive dissonance that occurs when you realize that others believe things that, if true, would challenge things you believe. You can bury that cognitive dissonance by telling a story that wraps up the loose ends neatly and leaves you clearly right and them clearly wrong, and not just wrong, but knowingly so, meaning they are either lying or afraid to face the truth -- unlike you, oh brave truth-teller! You have all seen this in action. "There's no such thing as an atheist! They just want to sin!" Similar stories are used to counter the "born this way" position. Counter, like it's a game of rhetorical cards to be won, not human lives and rights. I don't know if I'll ever be able to talk to my father about anything of any consequence. My mother shuts me out, too, but at least it doesn't have to involve yelling, most of the time. But there are those of you out there, and you are the vast majority, who are not trans and not trying to convince your parents to vote for a man who wants to put you in front of a firing squad ASAP. You, with less at stake, should be more able to have these conversations. But here's the thing: if you've been practing dunking and "DESTROYING conservatives with FACTS AND LOGIC" or whatever, patterned on public spectacle debate, there is a danger that what you have practiced is what you will perform, and the conversation will be sabotaged, and your parents or whoever will just be that much more convinced you're just being a dick and that I'm trying to groom their grandchildren. So thanks for that. I don't have the answers. I wish I did.

  82. This is 100% accurate. I was a CVS pharmacist for over 10 years and just recently made the decision to resign, because of the rampant changes only focused on profit and no concern for patient safety or welfare as well as any concern for the harsh conditions the staff has to deal with on a daily basis. So happy I left. Their thought process was “If we keep putting enough hearts on everything (look at the signage) then maybe the patients will be dumb enough to think we care”. I expressed concern to everyone in the food chain and it always fell on deaf ears or was looked at as complaining. I finally had to stand up for myself and preserve my license by quitting. They are not understaffed, they make it that way on purpose and then tell us to lie to the patients, because we are reprimanded if we tell patients/customers how CVS is just constantly cutting hours and wants the store this understaffed by choice. It’s disgusting and I hope they go under. It’s a disgrace to healthcare in my eyes. They also constantly break laws and standards set by the boards of pharmacy because they rub elbows with those in power and can afford the fines/lawyers fees to get out of trouble and still make profit. Reminds me of Ford choosing the cost of recalling a vehicle vs the cost of killing a certain number of people and choosing whatever is cheaper, no concern for their patients or their health only concern is profit so they can pay their CEO and higher ups millions in bonuses. Open your eyes people. Its big pharma, the only way to change it is at our level. We the people have to make a difference with our voices and our wallets. Hit ‘em where it hurts (their bonus checks).
