I always get a wonderful sense of well-being watching your videos. They really should be on prescription from the NHS to relieve stress. Priceless x

Oh Vanessa, that was such a lovely touch to serve yourself Custard Creams in memory of your nan. I so love your vlogs, they are the highlight of my week! Looking at your bee mug, here is a little bee tale for you.. The other evening I found about 10 drowned bees in a birdbath in my garden. I was devastated. I emptied the water in anger and placed all the dead bees on a large stone. During the night I happened to be researching how to make a bee bath when I came across an article that explained that bees can be brought back to life after drowning by drying out the excess water and putting them in sunlight to warm up. So next morning I took each one carefully in the palm of my hand and sat in the sunshine with them until they dried off and warmed up enough to fly away! Whilst they were drying and warming I had the honour of watching them wash themselves. I was able to study them up close, something that, hopefully, I'll never have the chance to do so again. It was truly a wonderful experience. I managed to save all but two bees! X

What a delight you are! I loved this picturesque viewing of the ice and snow and the beautiful golden eye.

We all live on this little blue ball in the middle of nothing, why can’t everyone be as happy as Vanessa?

Now that I’ve caught up with watching all of your older videos and I’ve none except your weekly Vlog, I’m bereft. I didn’t realize how addicted I had become to watching several every day. I was taken away from all the angst, anger, and chaos in the USA at the moment and whisked away to an enchanted place. Thank you for sharing your most unique life and adventures. You have no idea how sustaining they are right now. A friend in New Mexico USA.
67
Beautiful, wonderfully beautiful. Our loved ones never leave us, we just have to watch for them. Their love never ends. Your friend is reminding you of how important your work with nature is to everyone. You are a blessing.
66
You are so right that "most who pass will not have noticed"! You have a great gift of SEEING DETAILS, and little things.❤
65
As an Aussie who really hates the cold I can't but admire how tough all you narrowboaters are 😊. I would hate to be frozen in on a canal, beautiful or not. Glad you saw the beautiful Goldeneye.
65
If only the world was full of Zephs…What a beautiful personality she has… Have a lovely New Year celebration Vanessa.. see you next year😊
64
Dear Ms Mindful and Zephyr. Thank you for making Fridays special once again. You make canal life look so relaxing and beautiful. You are definitely “top of the line” among canal boat vlogs.
63
Dear Vanessa, I think your video is the most moving and beautiful I have ever seen. Your drawing and poem… I haven’t the words to tell you how much I was moved. I am so sorry that you have lost your dear friend. That wonderful day you shared with us will always be a comfort to you. Bless you. 🌷💕

I can remember the winter in 1963. I was 13 years old and we’d just moved to Bournemouth, from Yorkshire. The sand was frozen and the sea’s edge had a layer of ice, unheard of on the south coast. What makes your unique videos so enjoyable is that you keep us all interestingly informed of the history and culture of places as we cruise along the beautiful waterways of our beautiful country, with you and beautiful Zeph. And, of course your inspiring journal, your sketching and poetry. Thank you.
61
They come to us when we need them most. She was giving you a beautiful sunset to let you know you she is always with you.

This world needs more people like you Vanessa!❤️❤️❤️

I also live alone on a narrow boat. Your love of the English countryside, nature and your dog is touching. My dog passed away two weeks ago and I am finding it very difficult. Every moment with these precious, beautiful animals is to be treasured.
58
I love the end bit that is always the same, where you pour your tea and put the biscuits on the plate, with the sounds and no music. It has a really comforting predictability and consistency. ❤❤❤
57
Whatever your reasons for narrowboating, I'm so glad that you choose to take us along on your adventures, as you share the beauty of nature that you encounter. And the poems & artwork of your journal entries speak volumes of you as a kind & gentle soul.
57
I think all your comments about Alice Grace could also really apply to you too! So much wonder in this video...awe at your steady determination, courage and perseverance getting through those locks and handling the flooding. And then all the beauty of finding a pink campion flowering at this time of year and seeing all the robins, bullfinches and tree creepers. And finally back to the steady peace and rhythm of your ritual cup of tea, jam tart and your journalling and wonderful poetry. I look forward to both the peace and excitement of your videos so much. They transmit such a beautiful energy of mindful presence and aliveness. Thank you. 💚

I’m in France watching your vlog, I don’t think I’ve ever missed an episode. In an increasing urbanised world it’s comforting to watch your videos on canal side nature. Always a joy! 😊

Another dose of gentle and beautiful therapy in today's troubled world Thank you 🦋🙏

I am a 63 year old man who has spent his working life in the ugly world of nuclear power plants. I am retired now and unfortunately disabled. I must tell you that I have enjoyed every video of yours that I have watched. They have opened a world for me beyond concrete and steel, and have brought me back to my younger days when I spent much of my time in the forests and lakes of the rural area where I once lived. I wish I could have had your videos then to teach me to be "mindful" of more than what I was hunting for or angling to eat. Your eye for detail impresses me, and I find your lovely voice soothing. Thank you for these videos. I have ordered both your books and eagerly await them.

Your channel isn't really just a narrowboat channel. It's a combination narrowboat life, nature chronicle, wildlife documentary, poetry reading, sketch artist... and all done with a kind, polite narration along with a bit of adventure. And now we can add eco warrior! Well done Vanessa, well done.

Thank you thank you thank you for sharing those birds flying. They were like watching a great orchestra playing in the sky. Our God and Saviour gives us such diverse beauty. Than you for sharing

You title this video Finding Peace. It's me who finds peace in your work. Thank you

'a butchers, a bakers' and a startled woman at 1:44, thank you for another lovely video. 🙂

Even blustery Isha couldn't spoil the relaxing chilled nature of your videos Vanessa. Have a good weekend!

Sell yourself to the TV companies as a British naturalist. Your talents are unending and amazing.
53
Great video again , i realised this time that the magic of it all is never broken up by adverts ... Thanks.
53
Thanks Vanessa for cheering us up again, there is so much more to life than politics, wonderful scenery and wildlife, take care.

I recently lost my wife also called Vanessa. I think your videos are wonderful and help to ease my sadness.

45K SUBS! Vanessa, we've been watching you grow your channel since the early days. You've come a long way. We watch each week and are rooting you along.

Hello Vanessa, I grew up in the Armley area of Leeds in the early 60's to late 70's, around St Barts church, It was known as a slum area, bit rough but if you lived round the area it was great, 95% of my family lived around us (and there was a lot of relatives) so they made sure I wasn't getting in to too much trouble lol. The area had a great sense of community, which I think is lacking these days. My Grandad (on my Mother's side of the family) was a Bevin boy during the war, down the pits around the Castleford area. he was involved in a few tunnel collapses and ended up with an adults fist sized 'dip' in his back due to the collapses. He ended up being on the surface looking after the pit ponies and then working as a bus mechanic until he retired. He was my hero growing up and I still think of him often. Another awesome vlog Vanessa and thank you for triggering some memories of my Grandad for me. take care and stay warm, till next week x

Hello Vanessa. Thank you so much for letting me enjoy a relaxing few days with you on board Alice Grace. Oscar the Bichon is now missing life afloat with his ship mate Zephyr, but well done on drawing his portrait. I enjoyed your wild life observations and didn't we meet some interesting people too? Ian the story teller among them, keeping the oral tradition for story telling, very much alive, and good luck Jason with your relaunch of the Black Lion, wishing you all well. Love Nanny T

I’ve just stumbled across this video on my YouTube feed, and what a delight. Thank you so very much for sharing your adventures on the canal in such a beautiful and atmospheric way. I love the music the camera work, the poem and artwork at the end. The whole thing was so enchanting and at the same time so peaceful. Thank you once again.

Happy birthday! And a big blaah to the miserable people threatening to report you.
50
I sometimes wonder how many people who watch your vlogs are jealous of your choices of life style. I know I am one of them. You make me so conscious of the environment and of what I can do to help like solar panels or wind turbines this is silly but I have noticed you do not use the tea bags now and are making tea in the proper English way. Have a great week see you next Friday Steve
50
What i love about your videos is the genuineness of them, no clickbait like a lot of others, just as it is.
50
With your presenting skills and knowledge, these should really be on TV. You make a great host. 😊

You have brought a delightful treat to the morning here in Canada. Took a break from my chores to find this lovely video pop up! So funny to see Zephyrs "Eeyore" face lol. My heart went out to you for the worrisome struggles that you face...especially when you have to leave Alice Grace. The struggles and fragility of all forms of wildlife you capture so well,it fills the heart with gratitude and appreciation for the little things. All the best in everything you do. Much love and thank you.

Posted an hour and already have over 3,000 views. I'm not the only one who looks forward to this weekly reflection on nature. Thank you. PS: Received my 2023 Nature Journal in perfect condition here in the U.S. It's a beautiful story book.

The last part of this video was off the scale absolutely amazing .You were so lucky to be in the right place at the right time.

When my beautiful sister Sandy passed away very young, I saw the brightest of stars in the night sky. I kept going out into the garden to catch a glimpse of her. That was 25 years ago, and I still see her in the night sky. I miss her dearly. Your friend will be in your heart for ever and ever. My deepest condolences to you. ❤️

Steam trains, a canal, and a pub. Sounds like heaven...

Came upon your channel 3 days ago and have been semi binge watching ever since. I can because I am retired. The scenery is beautiful and the videos are so relaxing. My family is British and we moved to the states in 1959. Even though I was only 8 at the time you never lose the feeling that England is your home country. My mother will be 90 in May and the pull for her is even stronger. I know she would love your videos and, also, your journals. For her 90th birthday I am going to give her both of your journals. Thank you for your guided tour of the canals, towns, bridges, locks, countryside, animal life, and what it's like to be a full time cruiser on a narrow boat. :)

Thank you for an incredible journey, you really are the Attenborough of the British Canals, your level of knowledge and detail of our Flora and Fauna is outstanding. I love Friday afternoons when you post another beautiful upload. Well done, have a very Happy and prosperous New Year.
