  9. My new woodturning lathe uses a two horsepower Servo motor. There's a spinning magnet mounted in the headstock that can detect whether it's slowed down within one millisecond and call for more power from the motor. There is a 300% override capacity for short bursts of speed. An example would be turning a wood bowl and hitting a knot in the wood. The motor can detect the harder knot and calls for more power. It's a pretty slick system.

  13. I've driven a fair number of cars both manual and automatic, and I will have to say automatic is the best because: 1. I don't get cramps in my clutch foot if I get caught in heavy traffic. 2. It's safer, since I can constantly have both hands on the wheel. 3. It's just more comfortable never having to care about shifting gears. 4. I can start on slopes without using the hand break or doing some lightning movements with my feet. 5. I can lend my car to someone else who is not comfortable with manual transmissions, and be sure that they won't burn the clutch. 6. No human on earth, no matter what anyone says, can shift quicker or more precise than a modern computer controlled automatic gear box. When I grew up all my friends said that you have to have manual, since it's more fun, and it requires skill, and that automatics are for wimps. They all drive automatics now.

  26. Thank you so much for finally posting more about power factor, I've been waiting for more 3 phase power videos. I just graduated at the top of my class with 8 certificates, for achieving the highest of academic standards, honor roll, grades, reliability and getting Top Tech out of 10 students who qualified for the test in basic electrical theory, residential electric, and commercial electric. Im not bragging but I'm older than most of the guys I graduated with and I've watched your videos from the beginning of school till I graduated applying everything hand in hand and throughout I was able to learn easier and faster. towards the end I developed a love for electricity and everything about it. Your videos have definitely expanded my knowledge and have opened my mind up to the world of electrical engineering and the possibilities in this field, I wanna end up in the industrial field, but any area being its electronics to old wok residential is fun for me, so these videos are definitely worth watching for me.

The more you try to explain something simply, the more illustrations and flow you need to construct, in order to get across the information without leaving your audience feel like they've already lost you. You have done exactly that - put all your knowledge together without a ton of effort to transfer that to your audience in a short manner. In the field of electrical engineering, not a lot of channels or content creators do that, like we see in the field of computers and IT/programming. You are one of those few content creators who is also hands-on and detailed, and we see your level of effort and really, really appreciate you!

  37. I’m so confused as to the explanation of why we default to teaching conventional current. I already knew that electrons flowed from negative to positive but wouldn’t it be easier to just teach that? Who cares if the manufacturers still label the negative terminal and positive terminal “opposite” of what it should be. Just teach the negative side as having negative charged electrons flowing to the positive side. That’s how I remember it. Pretty stupid to teach it as conventional if you ask me.

Giving all the basic electronics concepts physicality makes them so much easier to conceptualize -- seeing your demo clarified and solidified a lot my understanding..
