Don told him when he was recovering in hospital from an injury he thought of their fight because it made him feel alive. The video of that meeting in the hospital showed the mutual respect between two warriors in a literal sense.

After one of his back surgeries he left the hospital then collapsed in the hospital parking lot from having a stroke which resulted in the doctors putting him into a coma. Glad he is alive and doing ok after all that.

  44. Gracie jujitsu came from old school judo old school judo had a bunch of groundwork in it. It was pretty much submission grappling with throws. Judo came from a few different styles of old-school Japanese jujitsu. Fun fact, judo and jujitsu were used interchangeably in Japan a long time ago.

  45. Sakuraba is a legend, though I have no first hand experience with him. With Royce Gracie, I do have one on one experience. I took lessons way back before there was a UFC and the man who was on the mat with me was Royce Gracie. I'd signed up with Rorion Gracie who was the kindest, nicest man. His manners were impeccable. Royce, was all business on the mat. He never smiled. By that time, my nose had been broken 4 or 5 times, then Royce added at least 3 more breaks to my total nose breaks. Regardless, I learned Gracie Jiu-jitsu techniques quickly, I had to or I would have died on those mats in Torrance, California. Not really, Rorion would've saved me, I was a paying customer!😅 After that, I never lost another fight. Not in military combat, nor in the streets. It's not like I was some big dude either. I'm built like the Gracie clan, tall and slim. I have a ton of respect for the Gracie Clan. They have taken their system a long way and it's given them a good life, but it's been hard d@mn work, believe me. I know, I was there. Oh, and no, I was never some black belt in Gracie Jiu-jitsu. In fact, I was only ever a white belt. The only reason I ever got more than a white belt in Judo was that I kept beating guys in tournaments that were brown belts. So, they had my Sensei *award * me a *black belt *. I didn't deserve it at all and sure enough, within a year, I began getting my buttv kicked. It wasn't the fault of any Gracie techniques, it was my fault. My wife and I were having issues, etc. I quit after my divorce and went on to become an internet engineer. I'm retired now. Married, happily to my second wife and living peacefully on a farm in the middle of nowhere. I like to shoot guns, at targets and try to abate a decade long migraine. Good luck folks!😅 And many thanks to Rorion, Rickson, and especially, Royce Gracie. I had a H3LLUVA great time with them all!

So much the American kickboxer has had a change of heart about leg kicks. From results of first-hand experience. This having been a handicap match in favor of the American kickboxer. I would say that if they were allowed to fight with zero restrictions. The Thai Boxer may have won in the first round. American kickboxer, punches and kicks. 2 weapons. Thai Boxer, punches, kicks, knees, elbows. 10 weapons. Yeah, this was so not fare for the Thai boxer. American - yeah, come fight me. I'll kick your ass Thai boxer. But you can only bring 2 weapons to our fight.😅🤣😂 It should have been agreed upon. That after this fight, win or lose. Another fight were the Thai boxer could fight with all Thai boxing rules / weapons.

I was training back when tank entered the Octagon and although I heard he denied ever having any training, I do know he had some BJJ training before he got to the Octagon, at that time their was only a small circle of BJJ and word got around pretty quickly. He was tough but he kept that part a secret even mocking BJJ...he had great body control as most wrestlers do...but I never hear of his BJJ training...

  92. Hey man, want to let you know that Jiu-jutsu originated in Japan a few hundred years ago, coming from the samurai tradition, meant to supplement sword play on the battle field. It was adapted in 1925 by the Gracies and subsequently developed into the style known as Brazilian Jiu-Jutsu over the remainder of the 20th century, first gaining real world wide notice via the success of the gracie clan in early UFC matches. It is very much alive and constantly evolving. The Japanese Jiu-Jutsu forms are more considered ‘classical’ and are much older than the Brazilian forms. One can find similar techniques in many ancient martial arts texts and illustrations, such as chin na, the chinese grappling and wrist lock techniques and even going back to the roman legions apparently. Whatever works right.

  162. The biggest problem with BJJ is they think laying on their back waiting for someone to flop onto them is a strategy. They demanded the UFC make it illegal to strike them when they’re laying there like morons. Lol It’s clearly designed to be in BJJs favor from the start. In real fights they’d just end up stomped unconscious as they laid on their back like a turtle waiting for their opponent to comply with them like it’s a staged demonstration. Just as happened every time in Japan when the rules weren’t designed to protect them. Any striker is going to defeat BJJ. Grappling on the ground is great if you can actually get it there. But if you can’t it’s over. They lose every time. BJJ can’t get to the ground. Wrestlers can. But BJJ struggles. They always resort to laying on their backs hoping someone will comply and hop onto them.

Wtf? “Don King picked a white opponent for Tyson…” Mcneely was far outclassed but give him a little credit because 99% of the population would never have the marbles to step in the ring with Iron Mike who if he wasn’t ferocious enough, then let’s lock him in a cage for 3 years with serial killers and then see if he can actually separate one of his opponents heads from their body when he gets out super pissed at everyone and anyone. Then Mcneely does something that in hindsight looks like he was suicidal, & goes in the ring and attempts to just bulldoze Tyson by pressing him from the opening bell. Something we know you don’t have the hair on your ass to do right now with an old Tyson, much less back when he was iron mike. Also Mcneely showed no signs of being intimidated leading up to the opening bell, something you can’t say about all of Tysons black opponents who a lot of were absolutely scared shitless such as Michael Spinks and many more. Lastly you can YouTube Mike sparring with a white guy from Canada and if you turn the volume up you can hear Rooney (Mike’s Trainer) say this guys tough as shit, which is probably one of the greatest compliments a boxer could receive, especially since it was when Mike was at his peak when Rooney was still training him and when Mike achieved his highest level of success and not when he made the terrible decision to hire a “black man” to manage him who led Mike down a dark journey and robbed the shit out of him while he could still ring Mike out for every penny he could before the inevitable train crash that Mike was headed for. Mike let that black weasel play on his vulnerabilities and made Mike think in a context of black and white all while sporting a hair-do that looked like he flew the whole way to Vegas with his head sticking out of the emergency exit of the jet. It’s probably one of mikes greatest regrets in hindsight.
