As someone from Djibouti, if I give my thoughts on foreign military presence, it's quite intimidating seeing these military bases with their soldiers armed right on roads and along side beaches in the middle of the city, where we commute in our daily life. We do hear quite often jet fighters with their bursting sounds as well. But it seems that we've adapted to it.

We're very lucky to have a family that's so accepting of him, but I've always wondered what leaving the church was like for him. In just 16 minutes, Johnny and his team were able to piece together a video that tailored to the poetic storytelling of Antarctica: from the emotions of awe for discovery, awareness of our desires to explore, to the music that spoke to the magic and the desolation of this icy continent. I can't help but gush over at this new format, being able to elevate a topic that most of us just pass by into something memorable, something beautiful, something...impactful.   18. A friend of mine was trapped in Kyiv and slept in air-raid shelters and after days, with a lot of luck, made it to Hungary and back to Germany. We were worried sick and what she told us was just disturbing. My mother has friends who are Polish by birth and their relatives still live in the villages on the Ukrainian border and there is also pure fear. Polish TV shows the full extent and misery of the poor refugees - in Germany you see much less of it at least on TV, my mother visited her friends, and they translated the TV program into German and all the people in the living room were crying. Half of us were also once part of the Warsaw Pact (GDR), we are also terribly worried. We are collecting clothes and food, many are signing up on lists and offering housing for refugees, some of my friends are travelling to the border region to help despite the horrendous gas prices (equivalent to $8.40 per gallon currently, diesel even more!). We need to meet this insane clown in Russia with full force. And always keep in mind: This is Putin's war, not the war of all Russians! Here, Russian migrants (of which there are many in Germany) are already being hostile and threatened in the worst way. That makes me sad. Free Ukraine!

  23. I remember running around in the forest as a kid in Switzerland. We always found bunkers and long lines of giant concrete blocks to block out tanks (like several kilometers long). Most of this stuff was abandoned and we didn't really understand what it was for, made a great playground tho

I sit in switzerland, considered one if the safest places on earth. but there is something in the air ever since this war started, that makes many of us worry, many of us alert. we are a generation that was gifted with peace and democracy, built on the blood of our grandparents. we have to face the fact that it is not to be taken for granted. seeing ukraine suffer is a vision of what could happen to many more countries. thank you for giving us a perspective of hope. i hope europe/ukraine stays brave and doesn't back down. it is not a matter of ukraine alone, it is a matter of all of us, of our home and our prosperity. ukraine is fighting for the kind of democratic freedom we are born into. They give me hope that people can still unite, and withstand terror.

  36. We need to regulate conflict of interest within the senate and house. It’s absurd that these people who help to make decisions for the country are able to be paid by corporations that directly profit off those decisions. If we started to regulate what these politicians did, and who paid them, I’m sure at least 60% of them would resign, because there wouldn’t be gross amounts of money in it for them.

  39. As a Russian living in Germany this has been pain to see unfold. I dont think I have any relatives in Ukrain but this truely still does hurt, seeing what I for the longest time ignorantly believed to be brothers in culture fighting over completely childish things. For years i have proudly identified with Russian culture and slav culture as a whole. Now i am not so sure. I can tell you first hand: Nobody wanted this. None of my relatives agree with Putins corrupt message and neither do I. He's fighting a non-threat over childish and arbitrary things. It is my one and only hope that this ends soon, in favor of Ukrain. Keep fighting, Ukrain. And, Putin "иди нахуй!"

Actually I am ex-journalist, because several months ago I realized that such work almost completely killed my mental health and seriously affected my physical health. I mean it is impossible not to take to heart everything that Putin and his government have been doing with Ukrainians and Russians. I left the profession, but I bow to all independent Russian journalists who continue to work despite the risk.

  42. I was born and raised and still live in Puerto Rico. This video makes it clear to me, how when I was a child, the elders in my family would not even utter the word independence without exuding fear at the prospect of such conversations…a fear, I remember, that could be cut with a knife. My uncles and other adults were truly scared to have a pro Puerto Rico political conversation…it was almost as if they were expecting a swat team to come for them and execute them.

  45. As a Cypriot, son of refugee, this video made me cry. Half of my family, including me, is living abroad. We've lost our home, our base. Still 47 years later my father is tight-lipped about that summer. I remember when I was a child I was pushing him to talk about the war and his answer was "what do you want me to say? That I've seen my best friend after he was killed and ran over by a tank?". It still hurts.

During the last 10 days, I have been traveling through the whole country and have seen people fighting so desperately for the liberties we in the West so often take for granted.   49. Oh Johnny. This one hit me hard. I just ended a 6-year-old relationship and these places you showed were and are our favorite places in the whole world. I'm Swiss and I don't know how many times I made the trip through the alps to Como. We had an amazing time and memories in those places and each scene of your video brought me back to my happy place. I'm crying, and laughing, and smiling and probably nothing I say now makes sense. It really touched a place in my heart I didn't know a youtube video could. I'm not sure I'll be able to finish the video. Maybe another time. Thank you.
