  695. I am halfway through. I am extremely positively surprised by the way this is structured. The way personal anecdotes and universally applied concepts are balanced is amazing. I think it's on purpose that this is written in a way that people in the future will read this like we read Socrates or Plato today. Kudos! I have 2 close friends out of all of my (I am sorry to say but...) NPC friends, with whom we talk about Brian. One thing we agree on is that the way he provides invaluable information completely free is unparalleled in our times. Regarding the fact that we live in a time where “If you live long enough, you will live forever” It is extremely frustrating to be in a position where I can't afford (neither monetarily nor time wise) to get even close to where I want to be in the race for “Do not die”. I am not even sure if I want to live forever. But to be in a position where I can´t decide for myself either way is agonizing. It is extremely frustrating to be in this position in times like this. Especially with a circle of friends who are mostly really successful and well off (most of them had a mentionable exit or just inheritances) and besides the 2 friends mentioned none of them is even remotely interested in using their wealth or freedom to even think about this topic seriously enough. Enough of self loathing now. Brian Johnson will be regarded as s a prophet by future humans is my honest opinion. Besides all I am very grateful to be alive in times like this and to be at least a witness to what is happening.

  790. Everyone knows how much our founder Bryan Johnson loves measuring the age of his organs. After his pioneering effort of starting Kernel in 2015 when most thought his aspirations were impossible, he was first to trial a new Kernel AI model that estimates functional brain age. With better understanding of normal aging, we will be able to detect abnormal changes that could help us spot things like early signs of dementia. The model is in the early stages of development and there are several limitations we wanted to highlight below. First, this model was trained on data from only 131 people. Most of the individuals in the training set were in the 18-40 range and we only had 30 total measurements from people over 60. As was mentioned in the video, we need more data across the full age range in order to improve the accuracy and reliability of the model across the lifespan. Additionally, the data that was used to train this model was from our Flow1 systems. When we measured Bryan and the Retirement House, we used our latest and greatest Flow2 system. While we took care to match the features as closely as possible, this was the first time we had tried using the model with completely new hardware. Finally, although the Retirement House crew is particularly sharp, we knew from our validation tests that our current model systematically underestimates brain age in the 50+ population. As we incorporate more training data from the 50+ age group, we expect this to improve. It was fun to hang out with Bryan and The Retirement House. We’re hard at work to continue expanding our measurement capability and are applying it to better understand the earliest signs of diseases like Alzheimer’s and Dementia. This collaboration was great to highlight the importance and value of measuring brain function and we’re excited to continue advancing the field at Kernel.
