  2. I feel like seeing this after the McMaster Carr video illustrates a point. Developers who know only the bare minimum may possibly end up competing with these tools if/when they get good enough that companies are willing to use them to throw widgets together. I hope that for clients who want good quality work for one reason or another and are willing to pay for it, skilled developers will continue to be needed for a long time. Maybe this will motivate people to improve their skills, and we can only hope that their effort will be rewarded. I'm not even a developer, but seeing tools like this work so competently does feel a bit threatening. I don't know how to code this kind of stuff, and I know it would take me many hours of practice if you are saying that you write code like that. How do we motivate people seriously considering this field to press on? In my field, unsurprisingly, AI is making waves too.
