When people talk about Ancient Rome they almost always talk about the either the Republic where it was ruled by Consuls, or the Empire where it was ruled by Emperors, but aside from Romulus and Tarquin the Proud, they almost never talk about the Kingdom where it was ruled by Kings and you'd think with 7 kings over the course of 244 Years it would be fascinating to talk about, and thankfully your video does just that in 7 minutes.   46. some minor errors but otherwise very good video. 1) the emperor picture of Sui is actually the king of Wei in Three Kingdom Era. 2) Kublai does not own the empire. It is generally known as the Mongolian Empire and Yuan is sort of a leading clan of the empire (due to they rule the Mongolian ancestral land?). Each of the Mongolian clans just do whatever they like with no regard of Yuan (other than saying "hi" ever so often). The control is very short lived and actual territory is also very vague. 3) same as Yuan dynasty, the Qing Dynasty does not really govern all the lands. Mongol and Tibet join the Qing empire by marriage btwn the royal families. The Qing "territory" is much smaller than the picture for most of the time.

  57. Thanks for Korean history. Balhae dynasty was built Goguryo refugees and Manjurians. They called themselves as 'Goguryan' on diplomatic official documents with Japanese at that time. It shows they insisted they were descendants of Gogurye. In fact, they were worried about diplomatic confrontation against China, so they set name of their nation as 'Balhae', not 'Gogurye'. After collapse of Balhae, the son of king of Balhae went to Gorye dynasty. He became a refugee and senior government officials in Gorye dynasty.

I'm not Spanish and have no right to comment on the sentiments involved but look at the battle we are having with the EU over Brexit and we haven't even left yet. Imagine the problems a breakaway state might have, not just within the EU but with the UN having to recognize a new sovereign state within a recognized member. It could be a nightmare.   74. This is a good video and pretty thorough overview of Mesoamerican Indigenous history. One thing though, and I can only speak specifically of the Mexica aspect, is the pronunciation. The X is like an SH sound. So it's Mesheekah, and other words follow that pattern, too, when in reference to Nahuatl words. Again, great info. I learned more about things I hadn't known much of. I'm a descendant of one of the various indigenous groups that settled in Sinaloa, but I'm on a search for more info. Thanks.

And my friend, you are wrong at one thing: "The entire Iberian Peninsula was unified" 1:47, that's kinda wrong due to the fact that Portugal, wasn't really, really, really unified with the kingdom of Spain because the kind Fernando I (II in Spain) told the Portuguese Cortes that we were indeed the King of Portugal, but he let the portuguese people still talk Portuguese, assemble the Cortes wenever the nobleman wanted, Spain would only have an "ambassador" in Portugal representing Spain. Sooo.. it was like the Kingdom of Portugal, and Spain, but at the time was Spain territory (still seperated).

I always rolled over and unlocked the doors for them, unless I was already counting the til. I would tend to let them get away with their inconsiderate behavior.   119. Technically the HAN ended in 220 AD but the power of the court was basically non existent after general He Jin was killed by eunuch officials in september of 189 AD. That essentially led to various warlords of the time to raise armies to fight to "restore" the Han dynasty for the next 31 years.   159. By the time of reconquista - which was well until the late 11th and early 12th century (4-500 years later), Europe had changed dramatically. The descendants of many of the Germanic tribes had taken up residence in England, France, Germany etc and had adopted Christianity. The Holy Roman Empire, Charlemagne, the Crusades were all galvanizing forces that united western Christendom. Then you had the more belligerent popes like Urban II and Innocent III that fully endorsed armed pilgrimages.

Headphones guy - only talks, can't hear what youre saying. usually these are guys and actually the most efficient/quickest customers though if you screw up what so ever they will become an insta-bitch, though briefly and to the point yet leaves you aggravated for approx 10 minutes. ,''n-n-no-no....i asked for two, not one, but two... forget it!'' ( stone cold face, pays quick and leaves). Also, delusional customer who justifies their own mistake and even though youre nice about making them another order, they will act irritated like it was your fault wasting their time funny video btw, enjoyed....

  175. Very good video! I'm glad you presented actual history and avoided the myths and misinformation that people usually pass off as fact. A couple of things that were glossed over (for anyone in the comments that's interested): - The Mexica settled on that island in part because they were being chased by the army of the king of nearby city state (because they killed and skinned his daughter). The triple alliance was formed in a rebellion against the previous dominant city state in the region. - Cortes had not originally come to Mesoamerica with the plan to conquer the Mexica. The Spaniards didn't even know they existed. He was part of a trading expedition from Cuba which he had commandeered. At first they traded and raided in the Yucatan, but were told (through a complex chain of translation) that they could make a lot more money in the west. He founded a small colony Veracruz. He gained some fame from winning a few battles and was contacted by ambassadors from the Mexican empire, with impressive gifts of gold. Seeing as he was a wanted criminal and the governor of Cuba wanted his head, he had two options: gather troops and wealth or surrender and go to jail. He went with option one, scuttled his ships (so his men couldn't abandon him), and started the conquest as the video says.

  203. From the perspective of China, it is probably easier to talk about Yuan Dynasty first, then mention it's relationship with Mongol Empire. However, the other Mongolian clans do not recognize Yuan's representation of Mongol Empire until Kublai's son take throne. The Mongolian spread too far to effectively open an AGM. The affairs after a Khan's death is usually not happily resolved (in fact most of the big clans didn't even have time to send their representatives). There were even wars waged against Yuan for it's claim as the next Khan. So, in some way, Yuan is not a part of Mongol Empire when it was established. The great-grandsons decided to straight things out and stop fighting. But, they just shake hands and back to mind their own business. It was never one government and very questionable to be titled "an empire". However, I agree these are all footnotes for a 7-min video.

  216. Mostly I agree with the video, but IMHO there are some points that are not accurate enough and deserve be clarified. Aragon was not a Catalan kingdom but a kingdom composed of several regions, one of which was Catalonia. In all kingdoms there were communities that throughout history had a right to a certain level of self-control and this was practiced by their own rules and leaders, that they were chosen in their own way. It is not fair to say that Catalonia had a parliament and a constitution, because it seems to oppose the rest of the areas, when some other regions also had their own tools to govern themselves to a similar degree. The region of Catalonia is not paying a disproportionate amount of taxes for the size of the population. Taxes are paid by individual citizens, if a region has a high population composed of rich people, it will contribute much more than an empty region populated mainly by villagers. If we take Madrid as a reference, which is a similar region in population and wealth, we will see that the amount of taxes paid is also similar. I can understand the need to simplify things in a YouTube video, but when cultural and liguistic differences are mentioned, there is a mistaken idea with the concept of a unified culture in the rest of Spain. There are many other regions that have great cultural differences and maintain their own language, but it is true that most of them are not constantly claiming them. What I can not disagree with is the last conclusion. Catalonia is one of the most politicaly liberal regions of spain and without it conservatives would completly dominate politics. And perhaps that it explains why this spanish goverment ruled by conservatives did raise to the tribunals a demand against the law into the last catalonian statute who tried establise rules for a referendum (tribunals void that law from the statute) but never established a rule that could represent an alternative for the demands of many catalonian citicens. On the catalonian side political parties that are claiming for intependence would get more space for themselves out of spain, as after ,in an independent catalonia, those parties who are backing to stay in spain wouldn´t seem to have place. It is a shame to see how people who share so much are being radicaliced on both sides by their leaders who only seek their own benefit.

Learning your script better and avoiding the pause would make your video sound better. The King of Aragon had to obey Catalan law inside Catalonia because Catalonia wasn't under his rule. This fact generated tensions within the alliance and was resented by some Aragonese Kings. This is fact, since a lot of documentation from that period is still in existence.

  242. Epimetheus i kind of like gobekle tepe, but a lot of what is published comes from fringe theorists. They start getting into antedeluvian stuff or the watchers/annunaki/ lizard people, so in the end, there is only so much literature about it that is real. I have tried to learn a bit about haplogroups and such, but that is a lot of work for what is really just an amateur interest/ escape. Same with linguistics. I wish there were more on YouTube about prehistory, but economics prevents it, especially when Julius Caesar and the Julio-Claudian dynasty and the Egyptian pyramids is so compelling to more people for some reason. I must be an expert in those subjects by now. We will see what the future brings. Good luck on your future videos.

  243. This is meant as a bit of constructive criticism so I hope it doesn't come off as insulting but I feel like you should work more on refining the audio side of your video. The volume level is unsteady, there are long pauses throughout which creates a bad pace, and you don't seem to have a uniform narrating style at times talking quicker, sometimes sounding bored and at 54 seconds in it sounds like your holding back a burb. These were all small issues but are easily preventable to create a much more professional video with little extra work. Of course this is just my opinion and I hope you don't find it offending.

  249. my friends worked at a few local coffee shops and my ex girlfriend so i saw it all. she was stalked constantly.... and she was followed after work a few times. but yeah, i've seen it all. The spitting one actually happen to me though the guy said he had hepatitis, so i just stopped listening to him and went to the bathroom without swalling his spit and rinsed the shit out of my mouth. a bit overboard but still....come on!!!! I myself owned a small record store mostly vinyl on the eastcoast.... which has some of these characters and a world of characters unto to its own......oh boy....and the nicknames, like "druglord', or "the metal family". i started recording the ones i couldnt bring myself to ban, they were just bizarre and absolutely draining. Good video/audio though. My favorite was having the fussing tourist window shoppers not like that i wasnt catering to their stupidity and ask to speak to the manager... and sometimes i would just say ''ok ill go get him'' and i'd go in the other room and come out and then sit back down and say ''can i help you, i heard there was a problem?''. they'd get wicked pissed off and storm out. had a few fratboys yell ''get a job'' at me while i was sitting outside my own store on the sidewalk. anyways..... glad to hear from ya. i love all your vids man.
