  45. Oliver Stone, in the opening segment makes some great points - things that I have thought about many times over the last 30+ years. Why does the west, & especially the UK hate all things Russia? I think the hatred of Russia goes all the way back to the killing of the royal family of Tsar Nicholas II... especially least for the British. He was, after all, the cousin of the King of England. But it was also the the spectre of Communism running amok in western Europe that created such fear among the ruling elite, especially Monarchies, that created the mindset that "The Russians are coming" and that all means must be used to keep it from Russian Communism from spreading into western Europe. 2:09 Remember, it was England, more than anyone else who tried to remove the Bolhevicks in the early 1920's by funding and supplying the "White Russians" during the Russian/Soviet Civil War...(they have been doing this sort of thing ever since too) Fast forward to today and the irrational hatred, fear and ignorance about Russian history and culture, purposefully cultivated among the populations of the west since the end of WW2 are at play and being used for the same old, tired purpose...to make people think Russia is backwards, dangerous and the biggest threat to Europe & the world. The phrase "We have ALWAYS been at war with Eastasia", from Orwell's 1984 comes to mind when thinking about how western governments portray the Russian people & culture....and it could be argued that this sentence sums up the official, embedded mindset & foreign policy position of the UK, US and nearly every member of NATO regarding Russia and how to deal with them. Knowing this, how could we ever expect Russia - after multiple decades of distrust, hatred and broken promises, to trust that anything the west promises them? Long post... sorry. There is plenty more to say on the topic....but I gotta remember, that this is YouTube... Not a public dissertation forum! 😅
