  1. This story / film is created to help people learn German language. Almost all the beginner level vocabulary is included in it. I don't understand why people are commenting on the storyline and not appreciating the efforts done for teaching the language in such a simple and effective manner.

  10. Reading few negative comments I just think: It is too difficult to appreciate all the work that is behind this? Obviously they are all Germans trying to act as different people base on the needs that people like me/you have, obviouly no all people around the world are kind and will open their doors if u have a problem. THIS IS AN EDUCATIONAL MOVIE, its not a Hollywood movie people, wake up! Its much more useful for students when you hear the German in a correct way even if Nico is a foreigner wo is not supposed to know how to pronounce a word, this is the real way of learning, if I'm a student is not good to hear bad pronunciation. Being in level B1 and watching this I just feel why I didn't find something like this when I started learning? It has a lot of input compressible that it will help you a lot! Please stop seeing the world in a negative way and start seeing how wonderful is to have material like that FOR FREE.

  12. This movie exists for the sole purpose of teaching people some simple phrases and vocabulary and yet it has better acting than 90% of what I've seen on TV in my country. I thought I'd just watch it to learn some German but here I am, actually caring about what happens to Nico! Great job on this!!!

  13. I do get the jokes about how fast he learns or how he sounds like a native out of nowhere, but despite all of those plot flawns, you gotta admit this is one hell out of didactic material. And for an educational movie, the story does get your attention.

God, this is just so well made– the dialogues, the actors, the interestingly enough story that keeps you away from being bored, the lines and the script and how well it shows you what you can do with A1 level of German – this helps learners a whole ton and I find it so unbelievably generous for those involved in the production to be giving such contents for everyone for free. I'd simply like to say thank you. It's such a gift.

  18. I have a theory: The reason why Nico speaks so good German in such a quick time is because of Lisa. She probably possesses some magical ability to teach German. Just look at her class she teaches, everybody is speaking fluent German without an accent.

  27. Tip 1: everyday watch 10 min.Pause and translate every word ,take notes Tip 2 : practise the words / sentences you wrote Tip 3: watch all over 10 min again but donts pause the video. Tip 4: after you ve translated all video watch it all over again.

  29. I just passed my Nico's Weg B1 final exam. One year ago I spoke barely any German and then I started with Nico's Weg, doing it almost daily. Now, 228 lessons and 3 final exams later, it has come to an end and I am both happy and sad. Thank you so much, Deutsche Welle, for an amazing production. It has been my absolute favorite way to learn German. Thank you. Ich habe gerade meinen B1 Abschlusstest bestanden. Vor einem Jahr habe ich mit fast keinen Deutschkentnisse Nico's Weg angefangen. Jetzt, 228 Unterrichte und 3 Abschlussteste später, ist alles am Ende und ich bin sowohl glücklich als auch traurig. Sehr vielen Dank, Deutsche Welle, für eine wunderbare Produktion. Es war mein absolutes Lieblingsweg, Deutsch zu lernen. Vielen Dank.

  34. This series is really amazing. Very interesting, too. Already, this episode is above my level, but I've got to keep watching because the story has me invested :) Also, even though Nico is supposedly a beginner, it is best that whoever wrote the story decided to give him sentences that are flawlessly pronounced and grammatically formulated. It would have been annoying and counter-productive for us, learners, to have Nico speak gibberish and be corrected by his friends every other sentence or so. Thank you so much, Deutsche Welle !   36. A huge work behind the film. People just don't realize how difficult is to craft a learning material for a specific level (low) with broad coverage of topics and grammar. But DW and teachers they hired did an amazing job! Thanks for your hard work, really motivated to learn German to A2/B1 levels to find out what are the next movies are about.

  42. Hint: if you want both German and English subtitles, you can select German as subtitles in Settings, and also select "Open transcript" by clicking on three dots next to "Save to playlist", which will show English subtitles in a sidebar (when video is not fullscreen). Enjoy!
