  12. I bought into the pod hype, but after your last video, I tried convincing my husband to do powder stuff. He wasn't buying it. But we got an 18in dishwasher around the time i saw your video, and the pods kept leaving residue. So he was finally willing to try the powder, and we are loving it. So thanks!

  19. The PBS joke was spot on Alec. The jazz at the end always reminded me of the old programs. I used to watch it all the time as a know-it-all kid, but stopped learning in my free time for a long while in an effort to "reinvent" myself. Your videos poke at the curious nerd in me and make me excited to know stuff. Watching a few of them totally kicked off my interest in researching everything and anything that I want to know the science behind, of course bolstered now by the power of the Internet. Maybe I'm getting a little touchy feely, but I just wanted to say thanks for making me feel smart again.

  27. This video gives me a lot of insight into how old scoreboards worked before they were computer-controlled. I bet they used the same kinds of stepper motors these pinball machines used and the circuits lit different groups of bulbs in the display of each digit based on the position of the stepper motor, and hitting the buttons to advance the ones and tens digits simply sent pulses to the stepper motors and the play clock would have to have something to send a pulse every second when the clock switch was on. I wish you'd get an old electromechanical scoreboard like a FairPlay FF-1S or similar, or an Electro-Mech Scorebrain model from the 60s or 70s and do this type of video on them.

  34. I've had amazing results with alcohol inks (from Michaels / Joann) and the cheapest airbrush you can buy. Alcohol inks are naturally transparent (translucent?) dry extremely fast, have a billion colors, and apply great on transparent plastics. I use them to dye my Mega Man gems (instead of dying the resin directly) and just love it as a process. I have half a mind to paint a set and send you one, hahah.
