You are pretty much me! I'm just a couple of years younger than you. I've been a huge readers since very early childhood. I want to say I was I learned to read even before I went to school. Not positive, but I think so. I have seen my attention span plummet through the years. For family / health situation reasons, I cannot be without my smartphone. I have to have it on me all the time. But I'm telling you, once my father is no longer living, it's going away. If I could dump it in the ocean right now, I would. And, yes, I cannot imagine how it is for people who have grown up not knowing anything other than CONSTANT distraction. It's horrific. We must do something to stop it. The problem is... I don't know what.

I haven't even started the video yet and I'm already angry. "College students are telling their professors they can't read whole books. " Are you serious?! I would give ANYTHING to have been able to go to college! And these illiterate morons can't read a whole book?! Why are they in college in the freaking first place?! I am raging. I'd better stop before I damage my keyboard. That is how angry just reading that first sentence has me - again, before I even watch this video. I am SICK of ignorant people! 8 seconds in. If they can't read books, they don't belong there. Give their spot to someone who can. I am so sick of this.

I haven't watched new TV in years. If that's the case, I'm glad I haven't missed much. You are correct on the other part as well. I do transcription for work. People can barely speak in full sentences. They cannot follow a logical train of thought, much less speak in one. Every few moments they say, "like" and "you know" and "um/uh" and my "favorite", starting and ENDING sentences with the word, "so." How that drives me nuts. Unbearable, having to type out such drivel! People are so stupid that they don't even seem to understand what it means to ask a question! They are told and even clearly explained that they are to *ask questions*, like you do in court, in cross examination. Not statements. Not comments. Not responses. QUESTIONS. They can't do it. I used to think people were just being difficult on purpose. I am to the point where I am really thinking... they don't UNDERSTAND what means to ask a question. It's horrifying.

I love it when illiterate people don't even see that they're illiterate.

This was horrifying. I'm glad Booktube exists. At least I know some people are reading. What that percentage is compared to the rest of the population, I don't know.

What year was this? I'm trying to see how long this has been going on.

THANK YOU! Nobody addresses this point! I always wanted to go to university when I was young. Never had the opportunity. But even if you gave me a 4 year free pass, I would never go now! Between the "woke" filth and the moronic students, it would infuriate me! What a waste!
