I love that "toaster" contraption!

I don't know how I fell into this channel, but it's fascinating! I love seeing how people live and do their daily tasks, whether it's in different times or different parts of the world. This looks yummy!

@hwychild Oh! Every time I'd see that fire I'd wonder about that!

@nmh7499 Sure. But it takes time for them to get to that stage. At some point you'd have just 1 child, or a baby and a toddler. Yikes! The other person mentioned tying them. That would make sense. The thought of a little one near that red glowing fire is horrifying.

@nmh7499 I'm sure "modern" people would be horrified, LOL! But it just makes sense.

This is FAKE NEWS! No way Ron would just eat one! ;)

I've only tried duck once, when a friend wanted to make it/try it for the first time. It was all dark meat, which I don't normally like. That was not the main problem. The main thing was it was mostly fat. That makes me gag. I just can't do it. I kept trying to pick around it but it was impossible. I was feeling bad because she had worked hard on it. It was nothing she did wrong. She's a good cook. But that's just how it was. She ended up saying she didn't like it either. I didn't feel so bad after that!

Oh, I love that water kettle with the handle! And the only proper use for oatmeal is skin care. Eating it is disgusting. (Though I sometimes force myself. I just have to do it early in the morning when it's dark so I don't have to look at it.)

@EarlyAmerican Wow!

Yay, someone besides me wondering this same thing! I'm assuming homes were small, with the kitchen being the center of activity and family life. Did they hold them on their backs? Have the older children watch them? I can't imagine anything like playpens existed back then. Did there exist something to put in front of the fire to at least try to block the area? I really can't figure this out.

@wanya_telborn Oh.

Hahaha! Perfect! I especially love your outfit when you were shooting. So pretty!

OOOOO, THAT PIE!

Ugh, the Muslim scambots have found this channel to. Report that trash!

Aw, kitty "reading" over your shoulder was so adorable! Hope you're feeling better soon.

Glad to hear about the hygiene thing!

For real! I grew up on the Little House books, which were very much "romanticized." It wasn't until I grew up that I realized how EXHAUSTING it all must have been!

YUMMY! I want! Do you know what kind of chocolate was used back then? Did it have less sugar than chocolate does today? (Which seems to be mostly sugar.)
1
Oh, how I wish I could try that pie!
1
Oh, that looks so good! Where can I find me a nice husband to make me chocolate pudding?
1
Yegads, SO MANY LAYERS! I would be soaked in sweat before I was even done. Both are pretty, but I like the first outfit more, especially the buckled shoes.

EEEEEK!

This made me realize I have no clue what animal mutton is from. Wow.

I feel worn out just watching these types of vids! Yegads, these people worked so hard. It would be interesting to know information on how they dealt with diapers! Did they save up old fabrics to use especially for that? They must have had to wash them daily? Otherwise the smell would have been too much. Ugh. So many questions.

I always assumed the wooden teeth thing was a myth. But I never really looked it up and had no idea dentures even existed back then! WOW!
1
I'm not geneRally a fan of oatmeal. But I'd be willing to try that first one. And, OH! I WANT THAT HOT CHOCOLATE!
