It would have been helpful to know why most of these people are in jail. Have they committed actual crimes? Or are they in jail for simply speaking something that the authorities disagreed with? Were they imprisoned unjustly for some other reason? Those who have committed actual crimes deserve to be in jail and face the penalty for their crimes. For these it seems they receive better living conditions than many of the law-abiding citizens. And that is not right.

Islam teaches to forcibly convert, subjugate or kill your enemies (unbelievers) Christianity teaches to pray for your enemies. Quite a difference. I am not clear what you mean by the Mohammad comment. I know he was a slave owner, murderer and child rapist. To make the comparison again, Jesus was none of these. Again, quite a contrast.

The Tibetan people need to wake up and stand up and fight for their freedom, their culture, their country - their very existence. This Buddhist nonsense of peace has done nothing for them. Peace comes through freedom and freedom often only come through a harsh battle for it. That is the reality of the world we live in. They also need to stop worshipping and following the Dalai Lama. He lives in freedom and prosperity, while his people continue to be persecuted. How do they justify this?

@paragshah2112 Thanks for admitting that you don't really care about these people. As long as you've got yours, that's all that matters. All the talk about how wonderful and "pristine" such places are is just that, talk. You refuse to address any of the health/social conditions I mentioned. That would actually require thought. The truth is, you don't admire poverty like that. You would not want to live in it, nor have your loved ones live in it. No one does.

@heomak It is true he has brought much attention to the issue. But I think most people now know what's going on there, at least generally, so that part of his mission has been successfully completed. It seems to me there needs to be more action now. My heart breaks for those people. My view is that it's long past time that they, themselves took action to move forward in freedom. Bringing attention to an issue and talking about things only goes so far.

I cannot even bear to watch this, reading the introduction was horrible enough. Of course, I'm sure all of this will be blamed on the war - as though this problem suddenly appeared out of nowhere the minute Americans got there. If people choose to run their nations into the ground, I say let them. @heomak Buddhist principles are indeed a great part of the problem. You would think that by now they would acknowledge that this worldview is false and does not work. Having many children may be a help, but of course we are talking about generations. Meanwhile, because these people refuse to stand for freedom, they will continue to be oppressed and die. It's very sad.

@paragshah2112 Many of these babies die needlessly from preventable illnesses, lack of proper nutrition, or birth defects that are easily correctable via surgery. Perhaps they are ostracized/killed outright due to a disability, which in more developed countries could be addressed. There's also lack of education and opportunity, especially for girls and women. But in your eyes, this is preferable. What's saddest of all is that you truly believe this, don't you?
