  1. After The Force Awakens, I couldn't even bring myself to watch the last one. After what they did to Han, I sat there in shock. My childhood was destroyed in an instant. And that's exactly what they wanted.

  3. I don't have that trust! He agreed to do The Force Awaken, KNOWING what they were going to do to his character! Yeah, he's a great actor. But he seems to have no problem spitting on the roles - and by extension, the fans - that gave him his career in the first place. He always had the grumpy old man persona even when he was young, but he seemed to keep it under control. "Don't bite the hand that feeds you", and other such cliches. Now that he's actually old, he doesn't give a crap anymore.

  6. Yep. And I've erased most of CS from memory. (But who knows, maybe a 2nd viewing would make me hate it less. I don't know. Compared to the dreck of today, it'll probably seem brilliant! Or at least not hideous.)

  8. This, a thousand times over. That's why I'm not watching any current remakes/reboots/sequels/prequels. I'm avoiding most new things as well. I took a chance on Maverick because I kept hearing positive feedback about it. I didn't have any emotional attachment because even though I'm GenX, I somehow missed the first one. I figured, if it's awful, I can walk out and it won't feel like a gut punch. I ended up loving it and I'm glad I took the risk! But that's been the exception. The only current show I'm watching is Blue Bloods. It remarkably has not gone woke - amazing, since it's a cop show. If it does, I'm out.

Look how many of these things have bombed, but they keep churning them out! They are INTENTIONALLY destroying everything. We are in a cultural revolution and nobody seems to even notice. Wake up! In their view, America is evil. Western Civilization is evil. They WANT to burn it all down to the ground!

  18. He agreed to do it! It's not like he needed the money or career boost! He's Hollywood royalty and has been for decades. I'm 50+ and have been a SW fan since the first movie. Star Wars was destroyed for me at that scene. I remember sitting in the theater in shock. I had been almost in tears of joy just seeing him again. And then... that happened. And for no purpose. If he had at least gotten a big sendoff, sacrificing himself to save others, that may have been different. (If it had been well written.) But we barely got to see him and this is what we get?! I sat there in shock for the rest of the movie. I don't even remember it. My childhood was destroyed in an instant. Yes, it's primarily the fault of the writers/producers. But, again, he agreed to do it.

  23. It's like you looked into my mind. I was remembering how hearing news about a new movie or show featuring my favorite characters and/or actors would fill me with excitement. Now it fills me with dread. And when it's a childhood favorite (or just a favorite, in general) my thought process is just how you're describing here - dread, wondering how bad it will be and what theyre going to crap on next.

If it was just for money, they would've stopped churning them out when they saw how they were financially bombing. They don't care. They're burning everything to the ground. That's why we see THE MESSAGE being shoved at us from every corner of the culture. It's not just Hollywood. It's sports, advertisements, "news", education, the legal system, even the medical establishment. When are people going to wake up?

  25. I love all of this and I hope you're right! My concern is that unless parents and eventually grandparents show kids the better originals, these inferior things will be all they know. It will be their childhood. They won't know anything else, until and unless they get older and start finding it on their own. And that's assuming the originals will still be around. More and more, it's important to have hard copies. I wouldn't put it past these people to either edit old stuff or make it unavailable. They can "cancel" you, where you don't have access, like they do with social media. Or they can get rid of the originals on your streaming service/channel and you can't view it anymore. We're in a full revolution. These people are not playing around. We need to understand that.

  28. 3 year olds can make up some fun stories! Even if they're wild, there's some sort of internal logic, at least for a child's mind. If you try to see it from their point of view, you can see how it sorta makes sense, LOL! That's more than I can say for Hollywood these days.

  31. He's always seemed like a grumpy old man, even when he was young. He seemed to hate his fame. (Though not the piles of $$$ it has brought him.) I can't help but take that personally as a fan. If not for fans paying to see their work, none of these celebrities would be famous. That's why I stopped watching any interviews with him, long ago. And I say this as someone who knows that realistically, fame is not all its cracked up to be. Imagine never being able to go anywhere, ever, without a crowd of people descending on you? Maybe you have a headache. Maybe you had a bad day. Maybe you're having family problems. They don't care. They don't care about you as a human being. They're just using you for selfies and social media clout. Imagine everybody picking apart everything you say and do, 24/7. Yes, some seek that out and like it. But not all of them do. That's why even if I saw my favorite celebrities out and about, I would leave them alone. If it was a public event where they're working, that's different. But if they're just trying to get a cup of coffee or take a walk, leave them alone! That goes double if they are with their kids.

  32. YES! I hate being broke because that's exactly what I would be doing! In the past few years I've bought new copies of Gone With the Wind, both the movie and book. I bought a faux leather copy of 1984. I bought a nice hardcover copy of Brave New World. (Which I haven't yet read.) But I can only get stuff here and there, when I find it cheap on ebay or wherever.
