  4. I'm an 80s kid but somehow missed seeing the original. And while I do like my steaks well done, I LOVED this movie! I admit my expectations were low: Don't insult me and spit in my face as a fan. Spare me THE MESSAGE. But it did so much more than that! I didn't even know the events of the first movie until this review. Thanks for spoiling an almost 40 year old movie, Drinker. (Just teasing!) I thought they did a great job of catching up with the history for new fans, without wallowing in it. I'm not familiar with that actor was that played Rooster, but he freaked me out with how much he looked/acted like Anthony Edwards. I had heard about Val Kilmer's real life issues. It was sad to see him that way. But I thought it was well done. I have not been to a movie in more than 2 years. But I don't think that alone made me love this so much. I have the attention span of a toddler these days, but this kept me engaged all the way through. I cared about all the characters. And while, yeah, some parts stretched believability a bit far, I didn't care. I was actually tearing up in parts. This movie reminded me why I love movies. I haven't had that in so long. I didn't want to leave until I sat through all of the credits. Congratulations on your upcoming book as well! I will be getting it when I have the cash. I'm broke these days and this movie was my belated birthday gift from a friend.
