  1. I'm over 50. I'm not one of those Star Wars fans that knows all the history and lore and every detail of everything. But I still consider myself a fan, and have been since childhood. I sat in that theater and watched THAT THING they did to a certain character in The Force Awakens and I swear to you, my brain just... stopped. I had been so happy to see beloved characters again! I was willing to overlook all sorts of weaknesses, just to see my beloved story continue. But at that moment, I'm sure I must have gasped out loud. I sat there in shock the entire rest of the movie. I don't remember anything after that moment. I couldn't bring myself to watch The Last Jedi. Something died in me that day, that very instant. I think it was my childhood. It felt like a knife in the gut. Why? Because there was no buildup, no story purpose, nothing. Look, I'm all for heroic ends, when it's done right. But this seemed like something cruel the writers did to intentionally spit in the faces of fans who had supported this franchise for literally DECADES. I'm sure there have been earlier instances of this sort of thing. But this was the one that will stick out in my mind for all time because it was so shocking. That's when I knew how much they hated us.

  2. That's what's so maddening about it. They can keep churning out crap and any legitimate criticisms will be dismissed as "racist", "sexist", or whatever. Genius, really! The only way to end this is to STOP WATCHING IT. But people refuse to do that. I love this channel and appreciate Drinker's analyses. But even channels like this end up feeding into the problem. Even if you're watching it to review it, you're still giving it what they want - eyeballs and money. They don't care if your review is positive or negative, as long as you WATCH IT! Even negative reviews give it more attention and people who otherwise may not have been interested end up watching it just out of curiosity. And so, the problem will continue.

  4. I hadn't heard this term, but I've been making this point as well. They are destroying all these franchises/fandoms on purpose. They don't care if you love the movie/show, or if you hatewatch it. As long as people continue to make videos, podcasts, posts about it, they're getting ATTENTION. All they want are eyeballs and $, along with the intentional destruction of our culture. Stop giving it to them! Glad someone other than little nobody me is saying it now.

  7. I watched it and loved it, even though I somehow missed the original Top Gun. I think it did a great job catching people up. It was so refreshing to see a movie without THE MESSAGE!

  10. Don't start slipping, Drinker! I have never in my life gone to see any movie or show wanting to be "represented." Never occurred to me. Why would I want to "see myself"? I see myself in the mirror every day! I want to watch a good movie/show, PERIOD. I don't give a rat's tail what skin tone anyone is, as long as the product is well done, and as long as it makes sense within the story. It would be just as stupid to have an all-white remake of Roots as it would to have an all-black movie about Queen Elizabeth. Why are people acting like there's never been black actors/casts before? There have been popular shows featuring black actors since the 70s! Many of us grew up watching The Jeffersons, What's Happening!!, The Cosby Show in the 80s, etc. I am 50+ and have never lived in a world where I didn't see black actors, musicians and everything else. This current nonsense is a LIE. The only thing it's doing is teaching children to constantly focus on skin tones. It's teaching little girls they are always victims. It's teaching little boys they are evil because of "toxic masculinity." It's all garbage. It must be rejected. It will and is destroying everything.

  12. Exactly right! The only current show I'm still watching is Blue Bloods. It incredibly has not gone woke, though it's had many opportunities, especially since it's a cop show. The minute it does, I'm done. I went to watch Maverick because I heard good things about it. I enjoyed it! (Even though I somehow had missed the original Top Gun, even though I'm GenX.) Other than that, The Force Awakens was the last time I will put myself through this crap. The good thing is that there are plenty of old, great shows/movies to catch up on. People need to be buying physical copies, though. A lot of things will be deemed "problematic" and no longer available. Store up while you still can.

  15. This goes way beyond entertainment. We are in a neo-Marxist revolution, where everything "old" is being destroyed and where everyone is being pitted against each other by "race", gender, etc., instead of by classes. They WANT people hating each other. They WANT chaos and violence in the streets. They WANT energy and food shortages. When people get miserable enough, they'll beg for anyone to take charge. And they will. WAKE UP. This is not "conspiracy theories." It's all happening right in front of us!

  18. ​ @laurencefraser  Oh, I remember that sort of thing as well. He's always seemed so condescending and miserable. Gee, Harry, sorry the SW and Indy movies were apparently beneath you. But they made you famous, they were part of the childhoods of a generation, and they made you very rich. Even if you hate them now, at least have the decency to have some level of gratitude for where they got you in life. This attitude is one of the reasons I no longer look up interviews/info about any actors. So many of them are insufferable. And, again, I understand and can appreciate some dramatic deaths in movies! But there was no purpose for this. There was no story to it. He had barely shown up again! There was no buildup to it. There was no last, great, heroic act. If we had gone through the movie and he'd had some big last scene where he sacrificed himself to save the world or someone else, that would have been different! In fact, it would've brought a character full circle because he'd started off being the independent rogue who didn't care about anything or anyone but himself. (Though a lot of that character growth had already been established in the original films.) But making him into a deadbeat dad sort of character and then eliminating so quickly in the movie? That's not the character we came to know and love. It was spitting in the faces of the fans. That's all it was. I will never forget it. And not in the positive sense.

  19.  @NicolasAlexanderOtto  I wanted to see it, just to form my own opinion and not just go by everyone else's. But... I just didn't have the heart. Like many people, this story was my childhood. Even the second set of movies didn't do this to us.
