Are the people of Bitcoin hoarding massive amounts of cash, to not only backup the current value of Bitcoin if it is traded, but if it is sold back into dollars? Is that where they get their cash from because you would think that they would take it and use it to invest, as well as to buy themselves cars and clothes and all sorts of other things?

Well if no one wants to give up any Bitcoin, or receive any as payment, then it just becomes an asset without a true store of value, if no one exchanges with it, because of involuntary hoarding. A store of value typically includes the idea of holding onto something physical. People who lose their wallets and keys lose it so it didn't remain of value to them
