  1. More like if you don't want to own gold you don't understand reality, not just history. Science plays a big role in why gold and silver are the best form of money, even though people just did it just because it works. Let's put it this way, according to the periodic table of elements there are five metals that are considered permanent in that nature cannot destroy them. Two were not discovered until the 18th century and people couldn't melt Platinum after it was discovered, yet those five metals do not vaporize, they do not dissolve in water, they do not rust, they do not spontaneously combust, and they are not radioactive. They retain value more than simply by their permanent existence (naturally) status, yet they will continue to exist long after we are all buried.
