  2. Then I go and take the many rolls of brass and get myself a cup of coffee just so I can stimulate the economy. There was a point in time where a local chain gas station would give you a free coffee if you brought in $5 or more in rolled coin. At that same gas station, I would find anywhere from $0.21 up to $0.68 a day on the ground and those dimes surely turn into $5 bills, which at that point, would still get me a free coffee just by keeping my eyes in front of my feet. It is pretty exciting when you find a silver dime or a real copper penny on the ground, that people don't know have a higher melt value. A debased currency is only worth what people charge, although gold, silver, and in some places copper, are real money

Thank you for not saying coin shortage and sticking to it, as for a long while I have been calling it a redistribution lag, although it seems that the businesses that have been open during this mess have been circulating the change, so it depends where you live if there is coinage going to go around that didn't make it back to major banks with bigger vaults
