Hand gestures are typically a sign of comfort, interest, as well as confidence because people that are moving their hands when they talk have something interesting to say or at least are supposed to give that impression off and it's a good way for people to stay involved instead of just staring at a plain face with a plain body language that doesn't seem confident but in some sort of shell.
